mstafford388 got a reaction from Andrew luecke in Moving house, wanting to try a different platform...
Done tons of digital audio baluns from TVs back to distributed audio and have never had issues with delays. Audio quality out of a TV output will never be great but for your typical pair of in celing speakers in a house audio system it's fine.

mstafford388 got a reaction from DLite in How do I use Source Sync in Room Control Driver?
There is a theater display driver that would work well for this, ties in the projector lift as well. I find you typically still need a little programming but it will get you mostly there. Just read the documentation in the driver.

I think you overestimate the capabilities of Zigbee.

Man I miss those old desktop keypad cradles. Hope all is well man.

mstafford388 got a reaction from Kyle Coolabode in Trying To Get Audio From TV > Triad One > Amplifier
Yes you can run audio from that output to an input on the amp. You can also send that audio over the network to a C4 controller but would introduce a delay in doing so.

mstafford388 got a reaction from daluza in Iterating / Evolving System Design
1. You can have a connection and programming fire of with the same button press. Obviously this could create some undesired outcomes and typically isn't best practice. If you program something the a button the connection doesn't automatically go away.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. You should absolutely be using connections for advanced lighting scenes with keypad buttons, simply for the ability to ramp/fade scenes with a button hold. You can replicate the rest through programming (with a lot of work to make LEDs track properly across multiple keypads, when fired off with app vs button, etc), but the ramp/fade is a doosy to do via programming. It can be done (timers, variables, etc), but it's not easy and won't ramp/fade as cleanly across the scene.

mstafford388 got a reaction from IamFodder in EA-1 not showing up in System Manager
IGMP snooping enabled on a managed switch will block SDDP.

mstafford388 got a reaction from Neo1738 in C4 just released an Amazon Fire TV driver that doesn't suck
FireTV integration is actually pretty easy, only 3 easy steps.
1. Rip out FireTV
2. Install Roku
3. Integrate Roku

mstafford388 got a reaction from Matt Lowe in In an Advanced Lighting scene, how do I change whether a load is "Include" or "Exclude" from "Hold Ramp/Fade?"
It has to be ADP/KPD gen dimmers to be included in scene ramp/fades. The older stuff won't do it.

mstafford388 got a reaction from msgreenf in AppleTV IP driver woes
Eh, I'll respectfully disagree with that one. Home kit has been "coming to kill C4" in the automation world for years and years and they seemingly haven't gained much traction. A big part of that in my opinion is they don't play well with others and basically throw that platform up and say figure it out on their terms like you said.

mstafford388 got a reaction from cnicholson in Lutron Homeworks Keypads triggering Control4 action
In QS, yes you can trigger C4 events from Lutron keypads.

mstafford388 got a reaction from DiZiTech in Bigger Sound EA3
You could either add another amp and use one of the audio outputs from the EA3 to feed that amp or you could add a triad one.

mstafford388 got a reaction from Time2Jet in Do NOT buy from BLACKWIRE
We have been using Blackwire for a long time and have literally never had an issue. The owner is a very hands on and extremely engaged and helpful to the CI community beyond just what his company does. I find it hard to believe if a dealer approached him with a weird situation like this that there wouldn't be a fair solution.

mstafford388 got a reaction from TundraSonic in Killing / Stopping an active session?
The room control driver is perfect for this. You can assign multiple rooms to the room control driver then program a room off to that driver and it will kill any rooms assigned.
-
mstafford388 got a reaction from msgreenf in What's the best way to control the volume in two rooms from a keypad button?
Use a room control driver specifically for that keypad and select both rooms in the properties of that room control driver. Bind your volume and you're all set, but can still control the rooms independently from any other interface.

I want to put the green puke face emoji here but it doesn't seem to exist on this platform.

mstafford388 got a reaction from msgreenf in Project Corruption? - Programming
There literally isn't a way to copy from one project to another, nothing will happen if you try to do that. Think of it like the clipboard your are copying to lives on the controller running the project. It would be like hitting ctrl c on one laptop then ctrl p on another.
