I agree with you in general; was just curious about real-world experiences.
I suspect by the time I sell my house I won’t really care.

However, it may be like selling a house with a pool.  It used to be considered a selling point.  Now many consider it a liability.

i sold my first C4 house about 5 years ago. When selling, I gave the buyer and demo and offered to completely remove the system, including all 180 light switches, cameras, tv’s, etc. The buyer kept the entire system, and both parties were happy. I would not worry about selling a C4 house.

You just sell the house with the electronics "as is". Tell the potential buyer he will need to link up with a dealer (or reccomend yours) to take over the system and make it work for the new owner. As long as you mention this and they are aware of it, it shouldnt be an issue
Don't say "Oh yeah the C4 system is absolutely perfect and everything is mint. Couldn't be any better" just be honest with the potential buyers.

Yikes. Most C4 systems are sold, not sought after. Dealers across all brands as a whole do an awful job of explaining the limitations of these systems compared to some basic features IoT devices have at factions of the cost. Most also talk a strong game about service and support only to disappear after taking the major part the project is complete. I don't charge my existing clients when doing simple driver and programming additions, thats part of the service with using a professional integrator.

Yep. I think I sell more box that say "Ubiquity" on the side than any AV brand and I just cant get away from LUMA. The OvrC and standard baller support Snap offers makes it hard to beat for me..even tho it pains me being HiK rebranded and busy/dated app/web interfaces. I would like to use UDM pros and make a combo package which I still might try next year, but I usually use Edge for my routing and L3 hub switching.

Agree on the camera price- but the overall package including the software features in the NVR - pretty slick

My 2 cents on my Luma system as of late.... For the second time in 4 months my system is suddenly not sending ANY email/text alerts.  I haven't changed anything and can successfully send test emails/texts but no actual triggered alerts come through.  It's recording events but nothing is working.  I sent an email to customers@control4.com as that's the only point of contact I could find.  Not very good or easy technical support considering the cost of the 710 cameras I'm using.

I did some more digging and it communicates via WebSockets. I did a wireshark on the communication between my laptop and the fireplace's webpage and it seems to be very simple commands. That said, would the Chowmain Generic IP driver be able to accomplish the task of sending the on/off commands?

My humble opinion, as a dealer, is that if Control4 doesnt open up for cheaper and easier integration... The big corps will eat most of the business. Sure. It may not be as professional. Sure it may have flaws, and most likely a bit less user friendly. But at the end of the day. If you want to control you lights, use Siri or Alex, unlock your door and so on. You can do it yourself at a significantly lower price. Most people dont want to do the programming themselves, but using google home, and Samsung is getting very easy to set up.
The more funded people will most likely use a professional install. A group that might, or might not be larger in the years to come. There are an increasing amount of pro installers, so the competition is not getting easier.

In answer to the original question - nothing comes close.
But besides that, imagine trying to sell you Multi-million dollar smart home that only you can support.......  That won't go done well.........

I rarely see it, of course, I'm on Android, I suppose it could be an iOS issue, but I doubt it.

Not sure if mine does it every time but it sure seems like it reloads for me most of the time I hit the app.   Pretty sure I don't have a Refresh Navigator driver.

Huffy? I'm just making a point. And MyQ is a perfect example of why Control4 isn't willing to use anything but an official API (closed with consent or open). So is Sonos, so is AppleTV.
Past issues don't invalidate the point - they just prove it.

It's just readily available, and has drivers. It's own interface is out of the 'C4' picture, and a lot of dealers do security cams more as an 'add-on'.
In the end, it's just HIKVision stuff, so are many other solutions, including at least one 3rd party brand we came across the other day that is 'custom installer' geared as the company states - it's basically a straight HikVision, and I'm half thinking @alanchow either wrote the driver, or they stole it. Purpose AV I think.
While I really like setups like BlueIris, I'm hesitant to install it FOR clients, simply because it's another level or responsibility, and I'm sure there are plenty that wouldn't even consider it for that same reason.
Which leaves Pakedge or Lilin (more expensive) or finding a 3rd party solution, which isn't as convenient.
    So...

In my opinion, it always comes done to the same assessment:
If you´ve more time than money, then go for open-source/DIY, if it´s the other way round, go for an integrator.
If, at the bottom of your heart, you´re actually a DIYler and actually want to play with the latest and greatest stuff  yourself, then you´ll never be happy to pay somebody else to do that for you. But if you´re just rational about getting specific functionality without being interested how it is delivered, then let somebody else do it for you.
In my opinion, it´s not about the pros and cons of system A or B, it´s more about your personal attitude towards DIY.

Jet airplane, huh? guess we are flying different planes.  Having actually compared them - the "cheap" blinds are not particularly loud, in either absolute or relative terms.  Louder than Lutron? Sure, but unless you have some special needs, you're going to be using them about three times/day, roughly 30 seconds of the 86,400 in a day.  I enjoyed spending the ~13K I saved on something other than my C4 dealer and a Lutron shop.  Maybe it's just me

Graber is Bali.  Both lines ship with a Zwave radio "autoview" inside the automated blind.  Then a zwave hub like Wink, Vera, or SmartThings is used as an intermediary between the blind and C4.

Has anyone else noticed that the new OS3 Mobile app takes much longer to connect and open than it did on OS2? I’m talking about a local connection (haven’t tried a remote connection since updating yesterday).
Also, it was my hope that mobile devices could have their own unique favorites for each device (IE: my wife’s different than mine) as well as being different than the OSD. That doesn’t appear to be the case...but want to make sure I’m not missing something?
