Jfizzle reacted to johnnyboy in HDMI Switch
Its been a while, but I had a problem with my purchase of a small form Samsung Frame TV. I found out it only had two HDMI input ports (the larger frame TV's have 4 HDMI input ports). That meant I could only have two the following three: (i) C4 OSD; (ii) Xfinity cable or ()iii) Roku. Of course, I could get by without the C4 OSD but did not like it. So I used one input for cable and the other for Roku.
My dealer fixed this problem. He left my cable box HDMI out connected direct to one of the Tv's two HDMI inputs. He ran the C4 controller HDMI output and the Roku HDMI output to an HDMI switch. The output from ther swicth then wenty to the second HDMI input on the Tv. He set up a driver that selects the correct HDMI output from the switch depending on whether I push the C4 red button or push the Roku button. The switch now automatically selects C4 OSD or Roku depending on which selection I make on the remote.

Thanks everyone, I’ll have someone remote in and check my settings / profiles. My switches were installed in 2014 so if there’s a hardware limitation it is what it is. I ordered the engraved covers in 2021 (I move slowly…) and can see these have the darker colored sensor cover fwiw.

Also make sure they were manufactured around the same time.  They made some hardware adjustments in 2017 and backlighting was impacted

That is part of it but you also want consistent backlighting profiles configured

I believe this issue has been mostly resolved in the latest update, 3.2.2, by using the light sensor in one switch or keypad as the basis for backlight intensity across several switches or keypads in a group.

Yes. I had @Matt Loweprogram a few switches to turn on ceiling speakers or outside speakers and tune to a specific audio source and channel with a double tap. Some other switches are programmed to turn all lights in the house off or all lights on with a triple tap.

Jfizzle reacted to ejn1 in Ruckus Part 2
    Hi all,
I'm still very impressed with my wireless switch to Ruckus in my primary home (5000 sq ft,  2x R650's, 1x R720).   I thought I would share a bit on my test in my second home, a 1650 sqft 1 story condo with metal frame construction and concrete floors/ceiling and exterior walls.    I have a Unifi setup here with a centrally located in wall unit cabinet with a UDM Dream Machine with built in wifi, no other AP's installed.   Its a 400Mbps download ISP WAN connection.   On the 5G Unifi, i pretty much get full 4 bar connection in every part of the house with areas getting over 300Mbps download on Iphone11 AC band with max around 350Mbps.   2G is around 50-80Mbps depending location.    I bought a used R610 and flashed to Unleashed and latest 200.9 firmware and max POE spec for the AP.   I'm honestly getting about 10% less on max speed for 5G and maybe 10% more than the UDM on 2G.    I'm actually quite impressed at how well this UDM internal 4x4 wifi built into the Router base unit is performing.   it is basically on par within margin of error and sometimes better on the 5G band than a R610 Ruckus.   Doesn't change how much I like the Ruckus but in my second home I will not be keeping it installed as the Unifi provides an easier solution with cleaner IOS app integration and control.   I will probably bring the R610 back and put in my garage or keep as a backup.   Note:  With a 1 AP setup, I couldnt test handoffs versus the two setups but I'm assuming the Ruckus would have an edge.
I know networks are important to everyone on this forum so thought I would share.

Jfizzle reacted to jfh in Extreme delay switching to/displaying camera feed on T3, iOS, Android [Solved]
The problem appears to be related to the recent 510 firmware and an issue with the camera driver’s authentication.  Here are my notes after a support call this morning  I still have a minor issue in the iOS ap with an old Wirepath camera and haven’t verified that the Android ap displays the cameras but I get my live feeds on T3s faster than ever.

In a nutshell the extreme delay on the 710s was because the Third Substream was not active and C4 would go to mpeg after multiple attempts at H.264 and the latest firmware changed how the streams were served (I don’t really understand those details).

    On the 710 we changed:
System Settings/Hardware settings - checked enable third stream.  This requires the camera to reboot.
Video/Audio - Change the main stream to H.264 video encoding and H.264+ to off.  Third stream is now selectable and video encoding is H.264.

Also changed a bitrate setting down from the camera default to 8192.

Then In Composer properties for each driver change authentication type from Basic to Digest.  Then go to Camera Test, get the H.264 URL and run test.   If it gets past “Calculating frame rate”, all is good.   (This is the step where he originally thought there was a firmware issue but coworker said try changing to digest).

Verify in Advanced Properties that Stream type was Third Stream and Connection method was LUMA NVR (they were).

The cameras now pop in in 1-2 seconds, which is the best it’s ever been.

If you have an under cabinet rack you can add rack fans, I've had these mid-atlantic ones for 6 years and they're still working good. I cut out the center panels of the cabinet doors and replaced with speaker grill painted flat black to vent the air out.

It's not super noticeable next to the regular cabinet doors.

Jfizzle got a reaction from eggzlot in 2020 Samsung TVs not turning off
Wild guess here but I see suggestions on here from time to time to make sure HDMI-CEC is turned off. On the Samsung it might still be called Anynet+. If an AVR is involved you may need to turn CEC off on the AVR as well. I see above you double checked on the TVs but I've seen threads where it mysteriously came back on like the below:

    Good luck.

YMMV but IMO, the Ring needs an AP within 20 feet (and not the Chime) or the lag will make it suck for live interaction. And nest sucks.

Update. Thanks very much to @Matt Lowefor reprogramming my system.
I ended up rejecting the $13k quote from my local dealer and doing a bunch of hardware work myself, and Matt did all the reprogramming in a few hours. I saved a ton of money, @Matt Lowe’s work is top notch and everything is absolutely perfect.  And it was all done faster than my local could have rolled a truck.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I followed your collective advice:
    1. @OceanDad Turns out the router in the rack is the DHCP server. All switches are gigabit.
    2. @Pounce You were right! I removed one AC-PRO upstairs and adjusted 2.4 ghz to medium power and 5 ghz to high, put on channel 1, this improved overall upstairs wifi so everything is -31 to -69 dbm. I also adjusted the main downstairs AC-PRO to same power settings as above and moved to channel 11, everything now -55 to -70 dbm. A couple of IOT items farther away at the low end. Thanks for the advice!
    3. I had a pretty bad wifi dead zone in my wife's office (recently converted from kid's playroom so we never noticed the wifi issue before), I put the AC-PRO I had removed from upstairs into her office and now she's good, just her phone and laptop are connecting and an amazon Alexa device.  Put her on channel 6 which is the busiest channel the neighbors are using but she's 3 feet from the access point and doesn't see any issues.
    4. I checked the Outdoor Patio AC-PRO and it has zero traffic until someone walks outside with a phone. I put that one on channel 6 as well and tweaked power settings.

Gloriously, half the devices have now migrated to 5ghz band. I do have a lot if IOT devices in 2.4 ghz @lippavisual like roomba, ceiling fans, sprinkler controller, c4 stuff.  I may look into setting up a second 2.4 ghz SSID for IOT devices
After all these adjustments I am getting about 120 mbps if I'm in the room with an access point (up from 20), but only 140 mbps if I'm right on top of it. My xfinity plan is 300 mbps down and wired connection speed tests get that no problem. I bumped my plan up to 600 mbps and dropped the cable TV boxes from plan yesterday and am waiting for them to send me a new modem so I'll test again when it gets here. Hopefully new modem, more speed, plus an IOT 2.4ghz SSID do the trick. If not I may be swapping out for Ruckus.
Thank you again for the advice everyone.

Agree.  I have the Luma 510 and replay through the App is miserable.  Worse through the web interface or direct to the NVR.
They need to make the timeline work like Ring does in their app.  Simple.

What mobile app are you guys using to playback video and watch live views of your security cameras?
I used to use Wirepath and TapCMS and thought both were easy to use.
I upgraded to a Luma 510 DVR and do not like the Luma app's playback feature. I much preferred the Wipreath and TapCMS apps where recorded motion detection was listed with time and date stamps and I could select each incident. The Luma app instead has a bar that I have to scroll right and left through, but the markings for video slices are so small its hard to accurately pick one to playback the video.
