Ah ha!   I finally found the lights under the Auxiliary Buttons in device actions.   Thanks for confirming it was there.

    Happy Christmas everyone.
To all those who celebrate Christmas, I trust that this Christmas will be a meaningful one for you and your families as we remember the reason for the celebration,  God bless.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for your input and online friendship over this last year as we have shared the passion of home automation and, particularly, everything that Control4 can do.
May 2024 be a great year for you all.

I finally got the updated app
simply put, its fugly and that is putting it nicely in something that can be posted on a public forum.  and I have halfway decent photos for 80% of the rooms in my house (amateur photographer here).  This update almost seems like a step back in the UI
Please either give us the option to turn it off, or make stock icons more consistent with listen, lighting, comfort etc from the hamburger bar or whatever based on the room type

Yeah the example is from Crestron home where it is a 1 click function that has been in place for about 4 years.  I am not sure about Savant.  For Josh it's a 2 button click.

agreed - I'm okay with creating or adding thumbnails of pictures for each room or a set of stock photos to represent each room in the room/zone list.  However, I don't like that it shows up as the wallpaper background then on that room when viewing all of the controls.  very distracting and pretty poor user interface design, far from elegant and streamlined.  I'd almost go so far as it is pretty terrible compared to background images that are either blurred and non-distracting or have a more refined aesthetic shown by all the other major control systems.  Can easily get demo versions of those apps to do a comparison.  This feels completely hodge-podge and thrown together.

Completely unrelated but I love the multiple rooms under the suite in the above example.

Agreed, should be an option.  They should provide canned stock photos for different room types/names like Savant and others do, so if you don't have a picture of the actual room handy you can at least quickly select from a set of stock photos that make your house look way cooler than it actually is!

The only relevant thing I'll mention now is that it works the best with Roku. It has also been tested on android as well (just requires a little more set up in the beginning). Haven't tried it on Apple TV, but I'd imagine it would work on that too. I built it because I wanted integration with Josh.ai channels ("hey josh, watch cnn" or "hey josh, watch the eagles game"). So it supports Josh too. 😀. It also supports all of the standard room favoriting, etc like the real channels driver.

be sure and have them add the Auxiliary Controls.  Dealer did this as shown below (using my Composer HE) and the associated screen shots in the app.  it's not the most elegant of solutions and I typically use the Omnilogic app instead of the C4 one for pool controls (lights, heater, water features) since the driver is quite limited IMO.

No suggestions here but have same issue on 2 of my Halo Touch units which happens about every 2-3 weeks.  Usually just have to do a restart but the most recent unit I did a factory reset and it pushed new firmware as well which is odd seeing that it was on the system for the past 4 months.

Sorry I didn't attach this sooner.  I never needed this document to know how to do the announcements but here is their document.  In my case I have Nano's & Micros in every bedroom and common areas.  So the VoiceCast provides the announcement everywhere. It also announces on the speakers in places where I don't have a Josh installed (i.e. pool speakers, BBQ area, patio, etc.)

GregCAMS reacted to Don Cohen in Home Theater Screen
This is the primary area where I work now, and I agree with those recommending a 2.40:1 screen, if movies are an important part of what you're watching. As was pointed out, a large percentage of movies are in this aspect ratio, which was intended to be the same height, but wider, providing a visually more immersive experience. With a 16:9 screen, movies become smaller, and less immersive, the exact opposite of the intent behind the cinemascope format.
Yes this is less 'efficient' since projector chips have a 16:9 (or 17:9) aspect ratio, and perhaps 25% of the available pixels aren't used with 2.40:1 content. But in the course of theater design, one needs to basically 'do the math' to determine the optimal combination of equipment. Ideally, you would look at all options: Projector, Throw Distance, Screen Size, Gain and Aspect Ratio, before purchasing any one component. Choices with one of these will influence the choices in the others.
And for the absolute 'best of both worlds' an anamorphic lens, along with a video processor like the madVR Envy, can be added. This does raise the budget significantly, but the results in terms of both picture quality and ease of use, can't be overstated.
As for the size, my usual approach is for someone to determine their ideal size for a 16:9 image, where they wouldn't want it larger or shorter, and then assuming they have the width available, get a 2.40:1 screen of the same height, but now with the added width. They then have their ideal 16:9 image size, along with the greater immersion for movies. It isn't always possible to do this, given physical constraints of the room, but is the ideal approach.
And the choice of screen size and gain will impact how many lumens the projector needs to provide to have acceptable brightness on screen, which is why these choices should really be made at the same time, as part of the overall theater design.
Hope this helps! Feel free to pm to discuss further.

Good questions...not sure if Mitch or any of us really are privy to the roadmap and timelines...they don't share that stuff with dealers unfortunately.  Agreed shades and locks would be nice to have...my main concern at this point is that the Halos seem to lose their connection to the controller every so often, perhaps when the controller is rebooted or offline for a bit, they don't seem to gracefully re-connect even once the controller is available again...I've had to do a factory reset and re-connect.

I don’t believe either side will make any further announcements until this SNAP/AVA/Josh lawsuit is sorted.  Josh is reassuring the dealer network that the integration will remain, but those are just words.

I’m hopeful things get sorted out sooner rather than later.  It’s too good of a synergy to not continue to build from.  I don’t disagree with SNAP killing the AVA integration.  The current future of Control4 is the Halo Remote platform and they spent a bunch of cash getting that rolled out.

Your network guy will set up your network with basic settings.
Then your AV guy will install your sonos, and you'll have network loops because network guy likely  didn't use RSTP, so he'll burn time reconfiguring it again, or, just tell you to speak to network guy
Then the integrator will come in. AV guy probably installed devices with no home automation support.. And, they'll likely need to configure the network again too, and might not be able to control things. If Network guy went overboard, you might have VLAN's everywhere causing other issues, or he might have optimised things for throughput on wifi, on a way that doesn't work.
I used to be subcontracted to many jobs. Its ok if you have a REALLY good working relationship with the rest of the workers, because then you can provide a solution which works for everyone and we collaborate well. But, having 3 different contractors guarantees lots of overheads, and lots of problems (especially if network guy is overly protective, and won't give you access).
That being said, a good AV integrator should be well trained on all of this stuff, including networking. And if they need extra people, they have people they work with well.
Otherwise, if  things go to crap, you'll also have trouble getting it fixed if its a grey area

that's the nice part about the platforms.  Different use cases for different households.  We had 4 T3's in the house from approx 2017 - early 2020 and maybe used them 1-2 per week.  When we switched to using Josh in place of the T3's we use them 40-50 times per day for anything from morning routines (that vary on time of day so not scheduled in) to discrete commands when my hands are full.  My wife uses it a lot to open close shades, turn on music and the such for her in-home daycare without having to find a remote or get to a wall with a touchscreen.  For us, Josh is a discretionary spend but also has allowed us to get more value out of not only the Control4 devices we already had (i.e. lights, A/V, etc.) but saved on programming like Lutron shades where they just worked from the jump without having the integrator program them in.  For the most part we use it as a 'layered' device in the same approach that Crestron has chosen to use it with their integration options with and making their OS Home app available on  the AVA remote.
Having used the system at this volume for 4 years provides enough of a sample size for our use case to recommend it to those that have a similar interest.  If not sold on it and haven't used it before, that's all good too.  And as far as price it fits our budget as we prioritize items like this discretionary spend over other items (cars, clothing, etc.) that others may value as good use of discretionary.  We were considering Alexa and Google originally and I went to the Origin Acoustics HQ here in Vegas to play around with it in 2018.  It was super clunky at the time and slow so it was a non-starter at the time.  Voice is viewed as a complimentary element on our end and today the Josh platform provides a much enhanced home user experience for us for the reasons stated above and the very easy custom scene creation, editing and the like in the portal.  That part alone has saved us thousands of dollars in creating custom scenes, triggers, etc and far superior to the When>Then C4 functionality.  So I see these, in present state, as complimentary products if you have this or a related use case that fits your lifestyle.  For us it's been fantastic as a paying customer for nearly 4 years of use.
If we were to move/build a new home, it would be a strong potential to go to just Josh given the ease of use, deployment, hardware costs, and amount of daily use we get from the system.  The reliability has also been quite good on the items we've compared on a case by case function such as using it to raise/lower shades versus the raise and lower on a C4 keypad, the 2N/DS Mini notifications, door locking and relays, etc.  I am not sure it's quite there for a large installation (not an integrator so this is conjecture), but from what I have used and seen at other smaller installations (i.e. condos, townhomes) it works very well and reliably in my friends' and colleagues' properties as a standalone.

GregCAMS got a reaction from Don Cohen in NVR to replace Luma 510-NVR-4CH?
I meant to say 220 for the new NVR.  I don't notice the fan noise either way as I keep this in a dedicated rack in an isolated room and with a HVAC Mini-split unit. So I can't speak to the noise on this one.  Other than the issues above it has worked well.  I only go into the app a few times so far to look at an error notification and a few times to navigate playback which works well.  Since I don't have the most recent Luma cameras I'm unable to take advantage of the AI features shown in the demonstrations available on YouTube.  We just needed a new NVR because the prior model was causing lots of errors to the point it was not functional.

GregCAMS got a reaction from Don Cohen in NVR to replace Luma 510-NVR-4CH?
I'm in the same boat.  i just upgraded to the 220 NVR unit for my Luma 510 cameras and DS2 Mini 2 weeks ago.  There is a specific method to do the update for the Luma 510's to the 520's on their new NVR. My integrators were following guidance of one SnapOne tech rep (I was in room working while they were doing this) and it was completely wrong based upon repetitive 'offline' notifications from the Luma View app.  They then had to do it a different way so just be mindful of that if you go that route.  The Luma View app is much better than the previous one so far but still getting occasional 'offline' messages but not nearly as frequent; in all cases it never actually went offline of if so was for a fraction of a second.  They've submitted subsequent tickets to Snap support and have received no reply in over 5 days.
