Neil is awesome!! He did some spur of the moment programming for me and did it without hesitation. I appreciate it, Neil.

Pretty sure that’s correct. You matrix is what will control if the room is playing sound or not, but the trigger will Light up the whole amp.

Port forwarding potentially opens up a whole other can of worms. Not recommended.

Hey Everyone,
thank you for your trust in me to help you with your systems over the years! I have met and helped many great people and enjoy texting with you all. I have never raised my rates since I started and I contemplated it last year and held off, but now I will need to raise my hourly rate starting 1/1/2024.
But good news, you can pre-pay for hours at the lower rate if you know you have a project coming up (change will not impact inflight projects).
Thanks again and happy holidays everyone!

I second that - I’ve worked with Mitch for three years now and he has helped support our systems at two properties. Mitch is incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, experienced, and very reasonable. He’s a pro and we’d be lost without him!

Yes. But requires on-prem hardware of some sort while the likes of nextdns do the same thing but without the hassle of maintaining hardware/software. Of course, some still argue the value of that setup

I am sure I don't even need to say it, but Mitch is top notch Control4 programmer. You wont go wrong hiring him.

msgreenf reacted to Matt Lowe in Mini-driver question
my issue with using one shortcut driver is i prefer one device over another in my setup. If i want to use youtube my shield tv has a better interface. but netflix hdr and atmos only works on my roku, shield is getting a bit long in the tooth. So you would need one for each to properly select the one you want or need to do some programming. The driver will always try to use a device that is not in use or use the device that got the first selection if there are no devices left, or use a device that is using the same service. So in a larger distribution system it may require more.

The days of needing pihole are gone. Just use a filtering dns like adguard or even better (more customizable) nextdns. Setup an account with nextdns (free!) and you can add blocking lists and more. Very good, quality, service. Then on your router / dhcp server, push out the nextdns dns servers and you are set. On your c4 hardware, use 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 for dns and you bypass the restrictions. Done.

msgreenf reacted to chicagod in Snap VS JoshAI
Alas, not for Android users (only iOS). Josh seems very iOS-centric with their development. They upgraded their Android app (after being "in beta" for years) in September, but it still did not have parity with their iOS app when released.

msgreenf reacted to Cyknight in Bulk add/remove device from room
I sort of disagree. I would want to control all thermostats from any room in the house.
That said, the easy way to fix it in this case is to clear ALL comfort from any one room (unless there's 'other' things you want everywhere then leave those) and then apply to all, then do each room with what you want. That's how a dealer SHOULD setup things to begin with. While 'apply to...' overwriting previous settings is annoying, it's still a step up from not having the ability to 'apply to..' at all.
More annoying to ME is that the first t-stat dropped into the system auto binds to all room (which is fine as such) but adding a different t-stat to another room doesn't at least overwrite the default tstat for that room (ie the nav displays that t-stat's value on the main page)
