C4 really does do a poor job at marketing it's own essential line outlet modules (both in-wall, plug in indoor and the outdoor rated plug ins....)

I'll echo the Chowmain driver for TP link/Kasa. Outstanding driver,  10/10 recommend.  Love the power sensing feature on the outlet strips.

Neo1738 reacted to 416to305 in Why does the Core3 report back constantly to events.split.io?
Well I'm glad I banned it because it's the #2 noisiest device on my network right after scribe.logs.roku.com.  events.split.io and auth.split.io are non-stop being contacted.  In the last 24 hours there have been 1152 blocked requests to events.split.io and 96 to auth.split.io.  I've blocked it so not a big deal but just wanted to post here in case anyone was unaware how frequently their Control4 system is reporting in on them and tracking what they do.
This is directly from the split.io website as posted earlier: "Record events that measure your customer behavior across your application including clicks, views, checkout events, page load times, or any event that measures your customer experience."  So, while you can say it's used to track feature flags, that doesn't change the fact that your own website states otherwise.  There's absolutely no reason that it needs to contact your servers every 30 seconds to track "feature flags."
Very disappointing and not something I'd have expected considering the high cost that Control4 was to implement.  This is something I'd expect to see on Smartthings or another consumer/budget device.
"You can change that to the frequency of your choice." - I am waiting for my Dealer to get back to me and confirm they have changed it / removed it.

Neo1738 reacted to Darin, PM C4 CX Platform in Why does the Core3 report back constantly to events.split.io?
LollerAgent is 100% correct, we added Split.io into the Control4 platform and applications back around 2019 when we moved to more modern software development and deployment processes. The frequency of polling was actually something we disliked about Split.io and earlier this year we moved off Split.io to Launch Darkly.  So I'm surprised to see a Core controller still talking to Split.io. @416to305 I've sent you a DM for some system info, so I can have an engineer take a look at what is going on.

I believe pi hole devices block communication to both Split.io and Launch Darkly, so you may want to consider whitelisting Launch Darkly to receive new features as they become available.

Once again, you come through with a great recommendation.  The driver seems like it would help.   I am on Pandora Premium Family plan so I just installed six Pandora Premium drivers.
Every time I have a crazy idea and my installer looks at me like I'm crazy, you have already done it!
    Thanks!

Neo1738 reacted to Shivam Paw in Text to Speech Driver (Web Interface, Control4 App, Voice Messages & More)
Hey everyone, just released version 15 which adds the ability to add custom pauses in the text. This only works with Google Could Text to Speech.
For example, you can use: Hello %pause 5% world which will return an audio file which says "Hello" and then pauses for 5 seconds, before saying "world".
This can come in handy for small announcements which C4 doesn't really like, or maybe for dramatic effect
Lastly, there's also a discount active on DriverCentral till the end of the month for this driver: https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/text-to-speech-driver/

I mean, "yes."  But in the same way that a lay person can change the brake pads on their car.  It's a simple job if you've done it before and generally known what you're doing.  But could be dangerous.  Only you can evaluate this.

C4 is a dealer-supported model.  In general, you should turn over the whole thing to one person / company to avoid finger pointing and wasted hours diagnosing a system glitch.   You want "one throat to choke," even though you pay a premium for that peace of mind.

I went with UniFi and did do most of the setup myself, but I have "eyes open" that my screw-ups could cause problems and I am on the hook to fix it.  But I also am comfortable changing out my own brake pads in th paddock during track days, and then blasting around at 140MPH 10 mins later on track... YMMV

    That. Is. Horrible.
So we have OS3 skeuomorphic style icons for things like channels and devices such as AppleTV now mixed with flat icons for lights, rooms, comfort, etc.  Umm yeah.  So basically no standard.  Looks like a huge turd.
[Skeuomorphic design is a design approach that uses visual elements to mimic real-world objects or materials, while flat design is a design approach that uses simple, two-dimensional shapes and icons without attempting to mimic real-world objects or materials.]
In OS3 there was a design principle and standard similar to Apple's (https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/app-icons).  Now we have some weird mix.
The skeuomorphic design introduced in OS3 provided a rich feel to the top level user interface (Lighting, Watch, Listen, Comfort, Cameras, etc.) in the app and Neeo remote.  Flat design at the next level down (for example from Lighting > individual lights / sliders) made sense without giving up the richness of the icons at the top level.
I don't totally hate flat design compared to skeuomorphic when it is executed well (see Apple again).  Here it looks like someone took a set of pre-existing icons and ported them over.  Comfort, lighting, rooms - all look the same at a quick glance on the Halo remotes shown above (same color, same shapes).  Compare and contrast to flat design icons on your iPhone.
If this is where OS4 is headed, someone needs to go back to design school.

Recommend do not put the cable in the conduit until after the concrete is set.
The curing process gives off heat, and could damage the conductor's insulation/twist of the cable depending on conduit, thickness, application process, covering, etc.

    Summary of the suit:
    1. We paid 10 million for Neeo, and integrated their people. Designed a new version.
    2. Their primary people left us and started a competitor using our tech, in violation of an exit agreement.
    3. Copying our design to the point of quoted comments it’s the same thing.
    4. We told them to stop integration to our platform and use of trademarks, they stopped the promotion but Snap was forced to break the integration.
    5. Josh AI and Control4 had agreements to work together to integrate the two platforms, including software. (including no working behind and around our backs)
    6. Knowing all that AVA and Josh AI got together
    7. Releasing the Josh Remote
    8. Both remotes are copies of our patents, tech, design, and confidential property
    9. Bad blood, Josh AI had an agreement to have dealers buy from Snap, Josh circumvented. Made other agreements with a buying group, refused to accept product back, and finally bought back at 50% off.
    10. We asked nicely, now were suing.

It sounds like waiting a few months before getting a Touch will result in a more pleasing first time experience.  At least most of the problems sound not serious or a software issue (unlike backlighting on the Neeo which was a serious issue and no software could fix that omission!)
