OceanDad got a reaction from GregCAMS in Patio heater Integration
Everything your dealer needs is in the driver database. All free, nothing special required. Either a switch or 0-10v dimmer driver, depending on what was installed. I'd highly recommend Using the Fireplace Experience Driver (also free) and connecting it to the respective switch. That way you can have the heather show up under Comfort where it logically belongs, and the button brings up a nice on/off timer that you can adjust with a button push. That way it doesn't get left on by mistake.
If your dealer doesn't know how to do this, you might consider getting a new dealer...

Use a long reel of strong cord/fishing line with a plastic bag tied on the end to act like a piston. Then use a shop vac at the other end of the tube to suck the line through. Works long distances, round bends, whatever. Then use that cord to pull your cable (and a new string).

But Control4 chose to acquire Neeo, thus they chose the design somewhat. Right?

Rolled the dice and rebooted via sysman. Controller came back online still showing the older version. Went to update for a second time and got a message saying that an update was already in progress. Cleared that and everything updated normally. All good now 😰

Unless I'm missing something, you might have a zigbee mesh problem. Your EA-5 is in a rack in one corner of the house, and there's a secondary controller in the garage. Other than that, there's nothing to repeat the zigbee signal. You are using Lutron for your lighting, so there's no light switches dotted around to do the job. You might need a couple of EA-1's tucked away behind TV's to help out, or even a few strategically placed wireless keypads.

Stuck in the "Updating. Do not disconnect power." loop. Grrr. Been like this for an hour, caution LED flashing orange. Sometimes I regret using my own project as the test pilot.
Between this and the Shield 9.0.0 issues, I'm not having a good day.

If you can run 2 or even 3 2” electrical conduits from your basement to the second floor attic. From there you can easily run wires from basement to any wall location.

OceanDad got a reaction from krris in C4 Cabling Requirements to give my builder
They look like you will only have one-way control. In other words, the blind will not report its state (%open/closed) back to Control4. That's OK, but a bit basic if you are going to all the trouble of a full pre-wire.

OceanDad got a reaction from msgreenf in Grouping Sonos zones to a keypad
Well apart from the fact that it doesn't clear the queue each time. My comment wasn't a rallying cry for C4 native audio (which has a different set of problems). It's just a shame that the Sonos integration can't be deeper than it is.
+1 for the Room Control Driver which makes a lot of things easier than they would be otherwise. I'm still surprised that I see projects that don't have it, and dealers that don't know about it or don't use it routinely.

No. You can use the driver as many times as you like in a single project.

One app update since 2017? What? The control4 app is updated every few week and the os a few times a year...

Audioengine A2+. Or the A5+ if you have the space/money. Add a sub if you really need to. Depends what you are using them for. I have the older Audioengine A2 in white on my desk as my Mac mini speakers and they have been great.

Any news on the battery level driver (?) that we briefly saw previewed in one of the 3.24 release videos ??

And probably the ability to have keypad LEDs track the status of scenes and other things happening in control4? Music on/off, shade status, etc.

Questions that you don't see everyday 🤣
Makes a change from the usual 'why does my Sony TV not wake-on-LAN ?' or 'is there a mini driver for Splunge/Oink/Grobble ?'

OceanDad reacted to Amr in Smart Network Tools: UniFi Network Controller Drivers
Yea Fing or the pro version Domotz are incredible tools, I wish some one would creat a C4 driver. Both have API and they do integrate to a lot of other systems specially Domotz 🙂

I wish someone would write something similar for Fing. That way it could be hardware agnostic.

OceanDad reacted to wnpublic in Right to Repair
The real question is whether the platform can be made secure to the point that it's too much hassle for there to be sustained efforts to get around the security. Certainly seems doable, given the small size of the user population (this ain't Call of Duty), and the much smaller proportion of that base willing to hack their way into Pro usage.
The "even realer" question is whether the company is well-served by doing it. Snapone doesn't have the real wherewithal for long-term investment here, it is not profitable overall, and there are so many gaps in C4 that are not security-related that it seems a shame to devote much (or any) resources to what is overall, a non-threat to the company. A few hundred hacked versions of Pro are not going to bring the company down. Failure to grow the base/keep up with changes in the marketplace will.

OceanDad got a reaction from DiZiTech in EA-RSP-8D-100 TWEAK
Yes - you won't be able to get OSD out of it (navigator display on TV) but that doesn't matter for your needs. The project can run 3.2.3 with an HC800 in it.

OceanDad got a reaction from DiZiTech in EA-RSP-8D-100 TWEAK
Adding an old HC-800 into the project will give you another 4 zones. That's probably the cheapest way.

OceanDad reacted to ejn1 in Replacing Ruckus
Thanks, I was just clarifying for others outside of the OP that may read and get the wrong takeaway around costs. I'm a big Unifi fan and the gap is closing with the latest round of APs and surely if comparing list to list price on cost/benefit ratio, Unifi wins in my view as well. But, if you are paying list for Ruckus gear, you are likely the worst purchaser on the planet or have monopoly money and don't care . Also, having a multiple AP Unifi setup with their controller (which I still use for backbone network) is a large gap, imho with Unifi still versus Ruckus. Tracking multiple client movements and see how Ruckus does handoffs to stay at max strength and also see how quick it move devices to the proper AP and manages interference / bands between APs. Was just pointing out that just standing near a single AP and speed testing only tells a portion of the performance story.
If the OP prefers to drive a Ford over a Porsche, that's personal preference
