Rob21 got a reaction from anon2828 in C4 IOS today’s update bring in faster experience
I am absolutely thrilled about this update. I hope similar improvements can be made to Alexa speed so we could stop hearing about the “device not responding” issue.

Will the driver have control over various zones - I have 2 thermostats each controlling 3 zones. Sure hope so!

Rob21 reacted to LollerAgent in C4 IOS today’s update bring in faster experience
I have v322.18.0 of the iOS app and my director is a EA5-V2 running 3.2.1. I don't see the lightning bolt under the "Status" section of the app. Am I missing something?

Rob21 got a reaction from pherward in Honeywell HSIM zones stopped updating
My dealer has given all the above details to C4 support. They are fully aware of the issue and working on a driver update to fix it. Thank you all for your input.

Rob21 reacted to gwagner in My war with the geese, could Camect obj. Detection be the answer?
Our house backs to a pond that is home to a bunch of Canadian Geese that invade our property, eat the grass and poop continuously everywhere. I’ve tried all sorts of deterrents like fencing and fake coyotes to no avail. The only thing that is 100% effective is turning on the the lawn sprinklers when I see them up on the grass.
Since I have a smart Rachio sprinkler controller integrated to my C4 system we should have a great automation opportunity if we can reliably detect the geese presence, effect an event in the C4 system, and trigger the sprinklers.
My plan was to use one of my security cameras and NVR to detect motion in the area, create a c4 event and turn on the sprinklers. Using a Wirepath 1080p IP camera and a Wirepath NVR has been totally unsuccessful.
I recently discovered a device from Camect www.Camect.com that is a smart NVR with AI that appears to do some amazing object detection and alarming. One of their videos shows the detection of a raccoon at night with just IR illumination from the camera! Apparently you can instruct it’s AI to distinguish between a UPS an FedEX driver!
I contacted Camect to see if that had a way to integrate to C4. Their suggestion was to get a box from Universal Devices (Psi…something) to integrate their box and Rachio. The Psi box at $379 is interesting but is just taking the place of my C4 system.
So……..I need a C4 driver for the Camect NVR. I can see this being VERY useful in a lot of systems and a great addition to a dealer’s toolkit.
Thoughts?
FYI: I’m a former C4 dealer, now retired

Binary MOIP will definitely work over Cat5e. With 4k Roku or Apple TV. But, MOIP still uses pretty aggressive compression to make it all work, so your onscreen PQ won't be as good as an HDMI matrix or even HDBT matrix. Whether it is visible to you is another story.

Rob21 reacted to DLite in Honeywell HSIM zones stopped updating
Yeah, just to be clear, I do this after every controller reboot. Sorry, I should have clarified that. And, I also hope there is a better fix.

Rob21 reacted to DLite in Honeywell HSIM zones stopped updating
BTW, it turns out my zones stopped updating too, but I hadn't noticed until your post caused me to check last night. My magic trick got it working right again, but it would be great if the underlying problem were solved.

Thank you for your response! I am going to try to get the bug patched before I try your way because I figured it would be better for everyone to get it fixed permanently. I will update you in the future. Thanks.

Cat5e supports even 10gb to to 45m apparently. 2.5gbps will work over 100m of carte easily too apparently
I checked the 900 receiver and the max bandwidth it uses is only 850mbps and uses standard Ethernet, so you shouldn't have a problem. Even if you're using 4k as you're bound by the max bandwidth of the receiver

It seams the time for blasting the Carrier product manger has passed. Why don’t we just let @tmj4 do their thing since they seam to have carrier’s support.

I will be happy to pay for the driver. Also happy to test once available. This is a driver we have been waiting a long time for.

Rob21 reacted to BY96 in Long Fiber HDMI
I would highly suggest Celerity Technologies. Basically, it is a fiber optic cable with switchable connectors. You then add the connectors at the source and display. In theory, the fiber cable is limitless, so in the future, you can always upgrade the HDMI plugs, but the current ones are rated at 48Gbps (which will pass 8k) up to 1000 feet.
They are pricey, but worth it.
The first generation of Celerity cables did not have the best reviews, simply because the connectors weren't great. I have both the older and newer cables and there is was a major quality upgrade with the newer ones. I am extremely happy with the cable.
You can also add a wall-late with the connectors attach to.

Rob21 reacted to tmj4 in Carrier Infinity Driver
We (Epic Systems) will be starting our development on a driver for the Carrier Infinity system soon (likely in the next week or so). We already have a signed developer/integrator contract with Carrier and will working with C4 to ensure proper end-user auth this week.

Rob21 reacted to tmj4 in Carrier Infinity Driver
Good timing! Just got our access approved on Friday afternoon by Carrier. Had to go through some back channels to get it pushed along. Passed along some info late on Friday to our Control4 contact as it's needed for auth with Carrier. Will likely hear back tomorrow with hopes of starting dev work soon

@tmj4 any update on progress with Carrier? There is a lot of hope for this driver. Appreciate you pursuing this.

Rob21 reacted to Drake0508 in August Door Locks always stop working after a couple days, why is it so bad?
It has been broken for a while. It also happens in the Savant ecosystem. I finally just bought C4 zigbee modules and put them in my Yale locks.
