Shoe reacted to msgreenf in [Status Update]Roku interoperability issue with Control4 identified. Investigation underway.

Identified - Numerous cases have been reported in the last few days of the loss of control of Roku devices through the Control4 system. There have not been any changes to the Roku driver recently and we currently leverage the published APIs by Roku, so we believe this is tied to a recent software update deployed by Roku. A Roku developer forum thread is also pointing to the same issue View the full article

this has  been working well for me since I increased the retry count. I think that is giving the LAN interface time to wakeup

Ok, checking back in on this thread. Let me try to clarify some basic things:

OP wants events so he can create some programming off the type of alarm coming from two wire smoke/co units connected through what I'm hoping is a standard circuit interconnect. OP has an alarm panel that is already sending an alarm on smoke/co, but does not indicate the type of alarm.
    You have a few choices:
Change your alarm system and integration to one that alerts on smoke and co and provides the programming Add relays that enable alerts for smoke and co Do nothing So, lets talk about the relay option. The big players in the smoke/co business offer purpose built UL listed relays for just this purpose. They are either smoke or Co. Kidde makes these and I suggested them because the OP has Kidde alarms. Using these relays are spec'd like adding another smoke to the circuit so you have to be mindful of the number of smokes on your circuit. These are not used in place of other alerting, but can give you alert type specific actions. Since they are relays you get to chose how to use them. It's actually useful to close a zone and then use the zone alert for programming.

    https://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/products/fire-safety/safety-accessories/auxiliary-devices/co120x/

These work by sensing the alarm type on the interconnect wire. I also have Zooz ZEN55 Z-Wave sensors that can alert on Smoke, CO and Heat. I have not tried these on the Core Z-wave as I suspect they will not work.

I too think it's useful to program off the alert type. If a smoke alarm is going I disable programming for shutting off water. If Co is alerting ventilation is turned on etc. This is all secondary to actually alerting and alarm company integration. For that I have wireless PowerG smokes and CO's so they work when the power is out.
I assume everyone can make their own choices.

There is another version of this fan with model number FV-0510VSCL1 that has humidity sensing built in. Most ceiling fans are a basic metal box with a junction box and a plug that a motor assembly plugs in. In the past the plug was an actual ungrounded two prong. These days a lot of the nicer fans use a molex or other type plug for the fan assembly. There is a very strong chance you can change your fan motor with the motor from the FV-0510VSCL1 in just a few minutes by popping the cover off, unplugging the light assembly, removing the few screws and unplugging the motor assembly and then the reverse with the other motor and control box.
If you go that route you can probably skip a relay.
BTW: I like that model line of fan. Low profile and wall mountable. Also good for basement ventilation since they have one that is a constant on at a low adjustable cfm.

They work well if you just need a small strip but if you are doing long strips Hue becomes very expensive compared to generic strips and controllers.

If you went that way and want to integrate you could do it with the REX line and relay either on the controller or something else like a z2io/shelly etc. We assume you are running power to the door in some way.

Your frustration is misplaced, the person you SHOULD be blaming is the person who bought the driver for you… for not telling you how it works and also for not taking care of you.

I totally agree this is going in circles and an integrator or electrician should be involved to prevent potential death.
You need at least 4 relays if you want to retain the existing functionality. Put them where you want.
A Keypad only has a single relay, but can control any relay etc using programming.
I'm going to throw gas on the fire. You have a two gang box so you can have this:
1 KD and 1 block off plate plus 3 relays. 2 KD plus 2 relays 4 relays wired to existing swtiches 1 KD, 1 double switch and 3 relays 4 relays motion switch and humidity switch 1 KD and 1 triple decora switch and 3 relays 4 relays a blank 2 gang switch plate and Alexa/Josh 2 KD plus 3 relays to split ceiling from vanity 1 KD , 2 relays and smart bulbs ...
Decide your budget and desired physical human factors experience with the switches.

I like mullion mounts. This is stand alone. You could mount it on the door. Since it's glass I'm not sure security is really the concern.

Or just two Shelly 2PM and maybe a one or two RC scrubbers to protect with the fan and transformer loads. Depends on total load if you can use the Shelly. This leaves the current switches and gives you automation. Maybe less than $75 plus the Shelly driver. A Shelly 2PM can switch two loads.

This is exactly what the bNet Solutions (bIcons driver mentioned above does.  Set up the driver, choose the low voltage battery icon set and link it to the relevant variable.  Then you will have exactly what you are looking for. See my generator battery voltage of 27.5 volts below.

Shoe got a reaction from GregCAMS in Announcement audio ducking options?
Just an update. I have Josh.ai now and Josh has some options for ducking. It can duck all, just audio, just video and disabled. This works great with Sonos for obvious reasons. To do this in one of the main rooms where I have Josh and have the Josh responses come out of the ceiling speakers while retaining C4 controlled audio on the room I am doing the following:
    Gear:
Rolls Ducker Josh Core Josh Micro C4 Matrix Episode amps Config:
Micro is configured to output to Core Audio 1. Core Audio 1 is connected to Rolls Ducker Aux input Zone output from Matrix is connected to Rolls Ducker line Rolls Ducker output is connected to Episode zone input Result:
I am able to play audio to the zone from C4 as this routes correctly. When playing audio from C4 if Josh wants to respond to something the audio comes out of the Core audio 1 output and the Rolls Ducker ducks the C4 audio and plays the announcement. When the announcement is complete the Rolls Ducker passes the C4 audio. So at a small scale of 2 zones this works because I have two outputs on the Core. Since we do not have Josh native output with more than 2 outputs at the moment it would seem my only option is Sonos if and when I need to scale. Since I'm just testing the Josh system and not 100% committed yet I'm fine with the two zone limit at the moment. I'm liking the idea of Sonos in the mix, but retaining the Matrix and C4 audio so the future plan is Sonos port like functionality for each zone in place of the Josh core outputs. That can get me C4 audio, Sonos audio controlled by C4, Josh controlled Sonos audio, Josh announcement ducking for both C4 and Josh music. The Josh Sonos audio can interrupt C4 audio so for any audio announcements to come out of the speakers and work 100% of the time they would need to come from Josh.

Nah. But it's possible. The Ikea sonos speakers can be modified for line and bridged to do 100w mono. My design racks them vertical instead of 1u like this one.

Apologies for reviving an old thread. Just thought I'd mention this in a place where people interested in this topic would see it. In the latest app update we've added the option to turn off the wallpaper preview for rooms. Should be helpful for properties that don't have many room unique wallpapers. You'll find it as the 2nd row in Preferences.

There is also a larger market of consumers that are now being educated that local control is valuable. We may see a cross over and see local control options increasing in revenue. People aren't stupid. If a company needlessly designs a product to be cloud dependent simply to generate a revenue stream (no matter the cost) people recognize it. Of course there is a good chunk of the population that doesn't care one way or another. As the home control market expands we will see how people tolerate the death by a thousand cuts of recurring fees.

I have a C4 matrix, but considering building a Sonos based multi-zone amp myself using an array of hacked sonos speaker guts. The trueplay intrigues me.
