According to USDA Market News Reports, the average retail mark-up on a head of iceberg lettuce in major US cities is 217%.

I’m really really sorry, I was curious after reading that.

    I don't know what you're talking about.
I have two HC300's at work under my desk.  They're just the right height to rest my feet on when I'm sitting in my desk chair.

Good point, the dealer backs the products they recommend and sell (and they have many too chose from). Nothing wrong at all with a technically competent customer taking on some or all of that decision making process. Caveat emptor.

The proper strategy is to treat your dealer as a long term partner and pay what they require to stay in business, or at least try to a fair and equitable arrangement.
Small business does not survive on margins that thin unless they are doing millions in sales and providing no support after the sale.
It’s time to rethink your “strategy “.

Let me begin by saying that I was not even a member of this forum, and I actually created an account specifically to give Ari the praise that he's earned. I've been a Control4 owner since 2016, and it's an awesome system. When I purchase it, I had aspirations of making my whole home a smart home, but I decided to just use it to control my high end A/V equipment.
Anyway, like electronics are known to do, it somehow was knocked offline a few years back. Since the system still controlled the A/V equipment fine, I never bothered to have anyone out to fix the issue. Since being stuck in the house during the COVID-19 crisis, I decided to try and get the issue resolved. After searching online, I came across Ari's info via this forum. I decided to email him, and within an hour, he'd already replied back! Being business owner myself, I can appreciate this kind of service. We exchanged a few emails, and later that evening we had a phone call about things. He hopped right on and fixed it within an hour!!
To make matters even better, he heard my thoughts of purchasing a new HDR compatible receiver to go along with my other equipment, and he even offered me an AMAZING deal on a Denon, since he's a certified Denon dealer. I'd fully planned to purchase it, but life happened, and that delayed my purchase. In the midst of that, I decided to do more research (AVNerd for a reason), and I actually decided to go another direction than the Denon. It all happened quickly, and I got a smoking deal on the product I ended up purchasing (which was more expensive than the Denon that Ari was going to sell me, but it's also much higher end). Ari could've been salty about this, but he was super cool about it, and even programmed the new receiver for me within hours of me getting it all installed and set up. He even programmed my Xbox One X to work with the Control4 system.
I will always use Ari for any future smart home needs, and he's the only one I'll call when I get ready to purchase another home next year. I feel that I've not only found an excellent programmer but also a friend across the country.
If you call anyone other than Ari for your Control4 needs, then you're missing out!

The way you should have: Jumper the traveller to the hot connection at the dimmer to pass through power to the 2-button (mark the traveller wire with black tape to indicate it's a hot)

All sounds good. I’d be happy to have a resource that I can refer to for programming scenes, Alexa etc. if it comes with the benefit of a help session, then that’s great

You can also bind scenes to the buttons on your c4 lighting so that when the scene is active you can light up the led indicator.

Tokead got a reaction from VINCELdUB in Pakedge BakPak
I have a RK-1x WK-1, P2 PDU and P8 PDU. I’ve managed to set up BakPak, and I can see all devices. I can turn off ports on the P2 but the P8 has issues. The scan found it, and I’ve renamed the ports but I can’t access it. The scan didn’t seem to pick up the serial #, and manually entering it has had no affect. Does anyone know how to get it to act properly? Should I delete it and rescan ?

I recently trialed and ultimately bought the DSC driver from Domosapiens.
I’ve had a series of questions about functionality and programming. They, Paul, have being great with customer service. He’s gotten back to me in 24 hours or less each time responding to each of my questions with clarity.

The driver seems to do all I could ask, and with that level of responsiveness, I want to give them a shout out for anyone considering one of their drivers

Tokead reacted to Cyknight in A better way to navigate digital movies.
This is EXACTLY what was commented on years ago now and most scoffed at or  said they'll all work together soon.
It's the one great downside ALL of these services have - instead of having two media to watch things on (your cable/sat etc for all your TV channels, and your DVD/Bluray collection for your movies) it's scattered all over.
Now you need services for Hulu, Vudu, Netflix, Disney, Amazon, AppleTV, Crave, Acorn, Discovery, HBO,  ....carry on, to get all your 'fixins' - in teh end you're just paying a different 'giant' for you content, and it's even more scattered.
I'd love to see some sort of mechanism that incorporates a searchable database to view everything across all of them, but I don't see it happen. Sure, there is some of this now by adding sub-subscriptions to things like Amazon - but as long as there are multiple big players in the field, it'll never be everything. And if there was one big player, it would be a Monopoly, and we'd be worse off than back when there was only one Cable company in your area that had a lock-down...

Understand that I'm NOT saying streaming services are a bad thing at all, but it never was going to be the 'utopia' that some thought it would be.

    Just huh. 😉

Guys, give RyanE a break.  He is a Control4 employee - what do you want him to do?  Crap all over his company and products?  His paycheck comes from Control4.  We all purchased the stuff.  He is just here helping.  I'm very glad that he is around the forum to answer questions and bring feedback to Control4 / SnapAV.  Let's not make him quit coming here, please.

PS  RyanE - I am still trying to understand and figure out if I can make a custom button as I asked above...

Ive programmed this for my teenagers, so they cant watch tv from 3 to 5 with the intention they do homework. Between those hours, when they turn the tv on, it will turn the room off. I've set up a variable, so it wont activate if a pro d day or a day off. When I'm back on my computer, I'll post some screenshots

I’ve had C4 since 2010. It costs me $149 Cdn/year for 4 sight. I use Composer HE for most programming. I touch base with my dealer a couple of times a year, usually to ask a question or deal with an issue after an anomaly, usually caused by a power outage or user. My cost is >than $500/year all in unless I upgrade something. I’ve added to my system over the last 10 years, adding lighting primarily. That is the most stable and dependable element. I have it tied into my security as night lights, wake ups, turn off lights my kids don’t, etc. all that time I’ve had issues with one switch. During that same time, I’ve had issues with 3 or 4 Leviton motion switches crapping out. Net cost advantage has been to C4.
Biggest thing with C4, like a car mechanic or realtor, find one you get along with and trust.
Personally, I recommend keeping it and seeing if your concerns pan out. Use the services of a dealer on this forum. They’re top notch, and you can see their feedback. You can do pretty much 100% remote if you can plug in a receiver.

I have a TV with a Roku and I also have a cheap FireTV.  The advantage to the FireTV is, as you have indicated, that it has better apps for Canadians, especially CraveTV - gotta get your Letterkenny fix, eh?
It appears that the FireTV cube has an ethernet cable - presumably that plugs into the micro USB port.  I am not sure about FireTV control with C4 as I don't really use the FireTV that much.
