  1. @Nwills just curious what type of system you had in your two houses? Lighting? Audio? TV’s?, security? Camera’s?. Stand alone all this can be done with a variety of open systems. Integrated into one platform, not so much.
  2. @Danimite as a long time user of C4 (not a dealer) I highly recommend you start by engaging one of the remote dealers on this forum to look at your system, ensure it is up to date, and to help you get setup and comfortable with the system. They will also be able to tell you what you have and equally important what you do not have. If your tv or AVR is integrated into C4, than you will need a dealer to configure this part of your system regardless. Having been a C4 user for almost 15 years now, a LOT has changed and improved. I promise it will be worth your time and money.
  3. Thank you @chopedogg88 and so many others that add valuable feedback to this forum. I long ago learned that one gets what they pay for. And rarely does consumer grade stuff compare to top quality stuff. The reality is most consumers simply cannot tell the difference and they don’t know what they don’t know.
  4. Search for the installation and programming manual for your panel.
  5. Look up DSC on YouTube. Lots of How To videos for programming. The change you want to make should be an easy one.
  6. IP or IR control of AVR? if IP, try to confirm IP address hasn’t changed (assuming you know what it should be). If IR check to make sure IR bud has not moved.
  7. If I have LIFX V3 Agent and Light drivers in my system, will they auto upgrade to 20220812?
  8. Please PM me too if you do not want to name the culprits.
  9. @Jedi5 you should not need 24/7 with your system. Once it is up and running correctly, you should very little need for support, let alone emergency support. If you are on the latest ATV IP driver and your ATV is up to date, you should have a stable platform. Good luck!
  10. Write a routine in C4 so that whenever the door lock changes state, if the door lock is closed and the door status is open, then open the lock. Be sure to use change in lock state for this routine so that it works even if the lock is manually closed when the door is open (think kids).
  11. I looked into it about 5 months ago. My house has 1 main and 2 large sub-panels. - and I would need 3 Span panels to get monitoring and control of each circuit. However, at the time, the Span App would basically look at the 3 panels independently and not as one large panel. They expected this to change as the app evolved. Another factor for me is the C4 driver is not available yet. It’s in the plans, but no committed timeline and no commitment on driver features. So I am holding out.
  12. Yes. You can have the buttons on the switch or dimmer disconnected from the load itself and then used for whatever programming you want. So you can program the buttons to turn the smart bulb on/off or to select scenes/colors, etc. Keep in mind that if you disconnect the buttons from the load, you will want your dealer to give you a way to turn the load on/off by some button programming or a touchscreen if you have T3’s or T4’s.
  13. One last comment. How much money do you think Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos were paid in the early days of Microsoft or Amazon? They worked for less than free. They gave their time, talent, and money because they had an idea and a dream.
  14. Most people learn by going to school or some other means of investing their time and effort. The workplace is not a classroom. Basic skills are expected for many technical jobs. If one does not have the basic skills, one can pay for school, one can invests his/her time and effort to learn, or maybe one can offer his/her time to someone else who is willing to take the time to train. I give a lot of credit and really appreciate the one here who is offering his/her time and effort to learn a new skill. If this individual maintains this level of willingness to succeed, I am excited and encouraged to see what this individual achieves in this life time.
  15. I’ve used Keypad Dimmers with smart bulbs for years. So far no known issues. The dimmer properties are set by my dealer so that minimum on level is at 100% and ramp is set to fastest setting. Of course, a Keypad Switch would be ideal for use with smart bulbs.
  16. 1. Easiest is for your dealer to tell you which button(s) control the load on each of the KD-120’s. But, you should be able to play with the buttons and figure it out. 2. Generally, if you are using single/double/triple press programming on buttons, you do not want to program on the press/release - unless you have a specific (and rare) use case. The reason is a single/double/triple press is still a press/release and C4 will execute both.
  17. I was wondering when this was going to come out. Exactly what I do with all my lighting. I use all dimmer keypads and have the load disconnected from the buttons. So the buttons control the smart lighting. I then have a room setup that no one else in the house uses (can’t wait until C4 has user defined room control) that has the load switches shown so I can easily turn-off or power cycle the loads if necessary. Note this came in handy with the recent update to 3.3 as a few of my hidden loads were turned off during the update.
  18. Me too. Ordered it yesterday. Already received notification it shipped. Also asked my dealer to get me this driver.
  19. If you are using double-tap on a button, you will want to make sure that you are not programming against the “press” on that same button, you will only want to program against single-tap, double-tap or triple-tap. You will also need your dealer to ensure there is no “connection” on that button.
  20. Which LIFX driver are you using? I have the Chowmain driver and it was necessary to replace the individual light drivers with the V2 driver. So not just a driver update, but a driver replacement.
  21. @ekohn00 I realize Rachio is a nice controller. As i mentioned, I have one installed in a family members house. But Weathermatic has additional features that are important to me that @TundraSonic eludes to above. Please, before anyone tells me what Rachio, Hunter, Rainbird can do, I already know. And they are the right solution for most installations. Now, before I even go into the features, I will say that most sprinkler systems are not even zoned in a manner that allows them to take advantage of many of the features. For example: slopes, soil type, plant type, sunlight, covered vs open plantings, etc. Proper zoning adds a LOT of zones to a system. When zoned properly, Weathermatic gives one the ability to set up each zone according to its attributes and to block out days and hours by program to enable the system to water as much as necessary without interfering with personal or regulated blockout hours or days. And the smart watering feature uses both location as well as an onsite weather station that measures temperature, rain, sun intensity and other inputs to calculate evaporation rate by zone. I have homes in areas that have heavy rain and mild temps as well as areas with lots of sun, extreme temps, and sporadic heavy rains. The smart watering algorithm is exceptional at ensuring adequate water by zone, eliminating any runoff, and conversing water consumption. In addition, I can set the low and high flow alarm limits by zone, and determine if the system continues to water the zone or skip the zone while continuing to water the other zones. I can also fully manage the system via an app and send in my sprinkler maintenance company when necessary. Again, I have a Rachio in a house so i am very familiar with it and I like it. Regarding integrating into C4, while it would be fun, I see no practical reason to do so.
  22. Agreed! But not worth the debate to me. Would rather encourage faster development of user centric features and system capabilities.
  23. Maybe I just forgot what 2.0 and 3.0 brought to the user. Zigbee Pro was a big upgrade in overall user experience. And the EA controller series over the HC1000 and 300’s, and Gen 2/3 over the Gen 1. But I do not recall being this excited about a new feature. I have been waiting for integrated color for years now. While I have a lot of Hue and LIFX lights, within a year, they will all be Hue or LIFX.
