Dave w got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in Apollo Fan Coil Thermostat Driver
Just for the record, I found a free driver that works for this and any other Modbus TCP thermostat.

Dave w got a reaction from Neo1738 in Generac Generator Control4 driver ???
It is $3.5k per panel. Its also a lot more than an app controlled breaker panel. It has a lot of functionality built into it for solar and generators that a traditional panel does not. This includes not only relays, but the ability to map circuits to supply channels so you can dictate which circuits are powered by the generator and which are not and use the dashboards to monitor total loads, etc.

And every time that happen on one of my devices I need to call my C4 dealer and pay them to fix the broken driver I can't access.....
The laws will never prevent you from doing your job. I can wire my own house, that doesn't mean people don't still hire electricians to help them. Being able to do things is not the same as wanting to or being capable of doing them. If you are good at your job there will always be demand.
C4 could solve all of this by following the Lutron model and opening up level 1 training to customers that are so inclined to go through it (a very small percentage of customers, btw) and learn how to do basic tasks like dragging and dropping a driver and configuring bindings.

Dave w got a reaction from msgreenf in Lutron RadioRA 2 Visor Control Receiver RR-VCRX-WH
Can someone point me in the right direction for integration of a Lutron RadioRA 2 Visor Control Receiver RR-VCRX-WH for garage door automation in C4. I don't see a Lutron driver for it specifically. Do I just use a light switch driver for each door and then run these as relays with the generic garage door driver? Also using NYCE tilt sensor for door state monitoring.

something they could do on there end? Build a v2 api endpoint and give your partners time to migrate to it before you deprecate v1....novel idea, right?

Light meter on security cams or an ambient light sensor would do it with some IFTT programming.

Dave w got a reaction from ejn1 in Slow T3
People always want to point the finger at Unifi. Its usually not the network unless you have some weird setup or multiple subnets etc. Logging is your friend. You need to log traffic and log C4 director activity to see where the hang up is. Its often a driver handshake or authentication issue.

Dave w got a reaction from ejn1 in Alarm System Help - Thinking DSC Neo 64 zone?
Sorry, but there are no simple answers for you. There are just too many variables. But let me see if I can summarize...
You alarm panel communicates within its own system with sensors, keypads, sirens, etc....and does not need a communications card such as the TL280 to do this. If you want to communicate with third parties then you need the communications card. Certain ones are used for certain things. For C4 you need either TL280 ethernet card with power neo boards. There is a rumor you can also use the TL280 serial card, but I have not seen it actually done or had it verified by anybody. For monitoring you need either the ethernet or cellular card or the dual band. Most people use cellular over ethernet for monitoring if you have a good signal as its more reliable. Many people use the dual band so you have both forms of communication as a fail safe. Since you need Eth for C4 you might as well get the dual band. If you know you never want monitoring the Eth card is fine.
The Qolsys panel is an alternatives to the DSC panels that uses same PowerG sensors from DSC, but has all communications built in and will also integrate with alarm.com. All around more simple, cheaper, and good integration. But not as robust of a pure alarm panel from a security installer perspective as to features and flexibility. But that doesn;t seem like it matters to you.
Alarm systems are complex. You might consider just hiring somebody and being done with it.

Dave w got a reaction from C4 User in Landscape lighting and watering
By far the BEST landscape lighting integration is the Luxor system by FX Luminaire, you can zone dim and control color with individually addressable fixtures and integration is seamless. If you limit the number of colored fixtures and mix them with non-color ones the cost is also very reasonable.

Dave w got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in Using C4 to pass pool enclosure inspection
lol...you wouldn't rely on C4 which is capable of multiply layers of redundancy and backup but a $40 battery powered alarm from a hardware store is ok? Either can easily fail, bur I'm likely to know when c4 fails long before the cheap alarm. But its a moot point as this is not a safety issue for us, its a compliance issue. I'm not asking about which one in your opinion is more safe...i'm asking if anybody has passed compliance.

I use Chawmain's notifications and driver to this with still images via Pushsafer. I have not tried with clips, but might work: http://server.chowmain.software/Control4/Chowmain - Pushsafer Driver Installation Guide.pdf

Dave w got a reaction from JR2 in Pool motor control
i'm a bit late to this party, but here are my pool controls for my pump and heater using lutron RA2 switches. Same would apply for c4 switches with simple 120v relays in a waterproof enclosure. They are not connected right now for some pool renovations but worked solid for several years.

If you're doing VLANS there's no reason to have multiple subnets. This is overly complex.

Dave w got a reaction from c44me in Strategies for Buying Equipment
The entire model of secret dealer only pricing is sooooo outdated and just leads to greed and gouging. Like one local integrator who hung a TV for me and tried to charge me $125 for a $12 Monoprice HDMI cable thinking I wouldn't know. Its really sad. Like OP I don't mind paying reasonable markup and never mind paying for skill and knowledge, but most of the time with HA the markup is just way too muck....Pakedge is a perfect example. Lutron RA2 switches and shades are another. Gordon, PM me and I'd be happy to chat about how I got all mine done.

Yes...my bad. I meant the Power Series Neo and Power Pro boards. Sorry....
The IT-100 IS compatible with the following PowerSeries control panels:
PC1616 6-16 zone control panel
PC1832 8-32 zone control panel
PC1864 8-64 zone control panel
Power432™ (PC580) 4-32 zone control panel
Power632™ (PC1555MX) 6-32 zone control panel
Power832® (PC5010/5015) 8-32 zone control panel
Power864™ (PC5020) 8-64 zone control panel
But not any boards that start with: HS2* or HS3*

Dave w got a reaction from WhyPhy in Lutron RA2 Select
Yes, and you can program through C4, so no need to pay electrician for any custom programming beyond basic setup. You will get mixed responses on using lutron vs C4 lighting controls on here. Some, like myself, like Lutron more aesthetically and functionally. C4 is better if you need a stronger zigby mesh for other devices. I don't use any zigby in my project except one or two remotes close to controllers so that is not a benefit. C4 light switches have programmable colored LED lights on the switch that some find useful to show ertain programming states or status. The debate in this thread was more about original RA2 vs new QA select....
