I'll throw this out as a decent "budget friendly" option for 4k multiview..

We run 5 of these in office common areas (mix of the 2x2 video wall and single display multiview setups). I can't speak for how well the c4 driver works as we utilize a different control system.

Be sure not to order the original Neeo remotes that were released prior to the Control4 acquisition. Those will not work. Only the Control4 Neeo remotes work with Control4.
But definitely wait until after CEDIA to decide if you want an old C4 Neeo or a next-gen C4 remote.

Hey dealers, have a favour to ask of ya’ll.
Because the new media proxy allows device specific transport controls, can you please nudge C4 to update the native AppleTV driver to support the TV/Home button and a long press of the TV/Home button (reveals the tvOS control panel for easy airplay and user settings)?
These button presses are supported natively, as they can be programmed into the remote UI using custom buttons. And surprisingly there is already a home button in the AppleTV media controls but it doesn’t seem to do anything on the 10 AppleTV installations we have. The custom button solution works in the meantime, but its not ideal as they exist outside the media proxy and a user has to hit the Neeo’s Home button to leave the AppleTV’s transport controls and return to the remote’s home page, then swipe to reveal the remote’s custom buttons. I’ve had to teach this to all our family members, but its just not that intuitive.
So please fire C4 a feature request or driver update email and let them know this would be a great quality of life update for AppleTV users. Thank you!

I passed the info about the new Push API from Hue to our drivers team and they said it is in their backlog to move in that direction with a future driver update, but couldn't give me a timeline on when to expect it since they had some other driver updates in front of it.

WhyPhy reacted to fleon in Help Selecting Smart Lighting Platform
@cdcllcAs long as the Hue system doesn't end up with a bug again (which, with any updating smart devices, is always a concern), Hue is a very good solution.  It's very responsive, very quick, has a lot of driver support (particularly if you use the C4 native drivers and the unilogiq driver together).
The two-way communication is very lacking.  I have mine turned off, in fact because of some of the delays with it on.  But I haven't needed it.  Generally, with very very few failures, it just works.  You hit a light switch and the lights come on.  You have C4 change to a different scene, it just comes on. For the cost, it's an excellent solution.  I have Hue lights from 5 years ago that are still supported and work just fine.
There is a good bit of programming to get it to do what you want, depending on how complicated you need it, but a home user can set up their own scenes and your dealer can just link to those.  The nice thing about doing them as scenes (requires Unilogic driver) is that you can change the scene yourself without paying a dealer.
The Hue line has a lot of options - lamp bulbs, overhead bulbs, outdoor lights, motion sensors, TV bias lights, lightstrips.  As far as options, it's probably your best bet.
There is a TV-sync box like you mentioned.  It's terrible.  The light sync is fantastic.  The degradation in picture quality is noticable.  You can fix that with a splitter, but that has its own issues.
Wifi vs zigbee for this really won't matter.  You need a Hue zigbee hub to integrate with C4, which is around $20 if you get it bundled.  You may need multiple hubs, depending on the number of lights.  I have 350 hue lights.  I have to have 11 hubs.

There are a lot of other color lighting options out there, but you either have much higher added costs, sometimes including rewiring, or you have a cheaper, younger product line that doesn't have as much of a track record.

Hope that answers most of your questions.

I looked a lot at Josh.  Things I liked:  better music control through C4, better announcements, better voice recognition/natural language.  Reason I didn't go with it: most of this I can already do with Alexa and I'd still need Alexa b/c Josh can't search the web for questions.
