  1. You do know the AVA is not made by Control4, right?
  2. Plex is a solid option on the Synology. Just make sure you have capable clients that don't have to transcode your content and can play it directly (Rokus are good at this).
  3. This assumes he has 110VAC available at the analog volume control which is necessary for C4 wireless keypad dimmers. But yes, C4 keypads are great for audio control.
  4. There are a few reasons to have independent zones: 1) You want to be able to play independent sources in each of the zones 2) You want to be able to control volume (via the C4 app/remotes/touchscreens/keypads/etc) in each room/zone independently If you don't care about either of these, you're welcome to combine them all into one zone if your amplifier(s) can handle it. If you have 9 zones, you need a matrix that supports 9 zones (has 9 ouputs). If you can stick to 8, you can do it cheaper (since there is an 8 zone matrix, next step up is 16).
  5. Is there a reason you can't homerun each back to a central location? I would recommend making each an independent zone if possible. Otherwise, yeah, you would need volume analog volume controls. This would mean you would have double volume controls (one in the C4 app, one on the wall) which could lead to a sub-optimal experience.
  6. Likely a resolver/client misconfiguration on the controllers that you may not have any control over. Maybe the controllers are incorrectly trying to reach themselves via localhost?
  7. I don't understand your logs. Are the controllers trying to resolve their own friendly names (eg, ea1-000xxxx)? DNS queries to pool.ntp.org are likely expected as your controller(s) are using them for NTP (to sync time).
  8. Don't discount Lutron RA2 Select (and RA3) either. Very similar to Caseta in terms of functionality, but a completely (and better in my opinion) different style aesthetically. Also supports more devices on a single system. You can always supplement Lutron switches+dimmers with C4 keypads which makes for a very flexible and versatile system in my opinion.
  9. Yeah - this is a good strategy. I have the following variables backed by a scheduler agent that are used in various programming: is_morning is_afternoon is_evening is_night is_late
  10. Like @RAV said, if you had to, you could potentially combine two pairs in the CAT6 and try to use them as "speaker wire" back to your amp(s). This isn't ideal though. Home runs from your keypad/volume control locations would be connected to an amplifier. No, if you use C4 native audio, you don't need keypads. You can control the audio from your phones, remotes, etc. You may eventually want to add some C4 keypads, but they aren't required.
  11. Correct. You could obviously use 14/4 from keypads back to your amp(s), but 14/4 is generally overkill for for WHA zones consisting of a couple in-ceiling speakers.
  12. But you just said you had volume controls. Are they just analog? That seems strange. You have CAT6 going into an amplifier at a central location? You would want something like 16/4 pulled from the volume control locations (where you would splice into the 14/4 going to the speakers) to a central location where your C4 gear/amps/matrix/etc is located. You wouldn't want to use analog volume controls if you were using C4 audio, so you would need to remove them and put something else (blank plate, whatever) in their place.
  13. What kind of volume controls are these? Do they have integrated amplifiers? Are you sure you don't have speaker wire running from your keypads/volume controls back to a central location as well?
  14. Curious how things like this are handled by dealers. Do dealers typically charge customers to fix things that were broken by automated updates pushed by C4? Sounds like I was lucky since my T3's/Neeos/OSDs all seem to be fine.
  15. Interesting that we haven't heard anything from C4 on this issue. This is pretty bad.
  16. Are you sure you aren't exceeding the overall PoE power budget for your 210? While every port technically supports 802.3at/af, each Araknis 210 model also has a maximum PoE power budget that you can not exceed over all ports. If you do, you would see issues like you are describing. AN-210-SW-R-24-POE - 190W AN-210-SW-R-16-POE - 130W AN-210-SW-R-8-POE - 65W The T4 uses ~13W peak (but likely less in most conditions). With 14 T4's, at peak, that is ~185W. This is dangerously close to the 190W budget for the 24 port model.

  18. T3/T4 and the Neeo receive OTA updates that are out of band of regular OS updates.
  19. There have been several other reports of this happening as well. C4's only response thus far in the public forum is "teams are looking into it." There might be other info available to dealers.
  20. tldr: Because SnapAV sells it. Dealers make a good margin on it, they have decent support, it has Snap's OvRC and it's also on the C4 "approved" list of networking gear (again, Snap owns Araknis - Snap also owns C4). None of this means it's a great product, fwiw.
  21. Are these Schlage locks with the C4 zigbee module? If so, you can change codes from the C4 app. Just press down (and hold) the lock in the C4 IOS app to manage it (add users, change codes, etc). To do it offsite obviously requires a valid 4sight subscription.
  22. In my case, the flickering was fixed by using better decoders. Once I switched from cheap Amazon decoders to the Environmental Lighting Studio 24 decoder, all of my flickering stopped.
