DanITman got a reaction from Neo1738 in Door locks
I have the cards in stock if you need Kwikset cards. You can go buy any off the shelf Kwikset smart code lock and make it Control4 compatible. Usually much cheaper this way as well.

Just give them a neeo with icons, it looks the same as the OSD and very similar to the App. Most likely lighting and shades will be wall keypad controls. I don't think giving them access to the c4 app is smart....I don't ever give guest access to that.

There is a close to zero chance you need an EA-1 at every TV.
I'll still never understand how the on screen display continues to survive every hardware refresh cycle. I cant see how it is justified to maintain given how everyone has a display in their pocket (their phone) or can pick up an ipad or dedicated touchscreen.

I don't understand the need for an EA1 / CORE1 at every TV. This is a bit overkill. The OSD (on-screen display) is overrated as most people will just pull out their phone to check cameras. The Control4 Navigator (what controls the mobile app and OSD) doesn't support 4k cameras. I believe the new controllers will allow 1080p camera feeds. Right now its restricted at 720 resolution on the OSD. With the new Zigbee Mesh requirements dealers won't be able to use them as ZAPs so it won't be for zigbee mesh coverage. I say drop them if you don't need them. You can always add them later if you feel the OSD is really needed.
CA-10 vs EA5. I've had both and currently run the CA-10. I think you should go for the ca-10 in a new build as it will future proof the system and won't be that much more expensive once you drop all those EA1/CORE1
One last edit:
Sharebridge really isn't that good. Its an older airplay 1 standard. I use sonos and it allows you to interact with the music in many ways and still integrates with C4. I would think through how you use your music and how you plan to interact with it. Sonos offers the greatest flexibility between airplay2, voice control, native apps, and control4.

Ok I understand now. So this is something we're aware of and working to resolve.

You can pick either but if you are going to rely on your dealer, I would use what they prefer. Neither product is going to give you the ring experience inside the c4 app. The only thing you can do inside the c4 app is view live cameras. I would focus on which system is the best outside of c4 for scrubbing timelines and getting alerts.
I think upgrading your system is optional but I like it. You can upgrade to a honeywell vista system and bridge to c4. This is what i do. This will likely allow you to use your existing wired sensors.
Yes, yale and kwikset are you only options. Kwikset has many different brand names that they sell under. I use kwikset and like it.
They provide the best feature set. Way more features then the ecobee. Now is the time to relocate them to the furnace room and use remote sensors for temp. If you need wall control you can use the t4 screens or put the thermostats on the wall.

DanITman got a reaction from msgreenf in Customising the UI - neeo remote
The new Roku driver introduced the ability to customize the transport buttons on the navigator. I believe this has been extended to the neeo as well. Instead of saying "cancel" you can change it in the XML to say "back". Other than that, there isn't much else you can change.

I use Honeywell as well. Vista20p. Sensors can be had for cheap and there are tons of resources for it online. Driver is free from Control4.

I disagree on the lighting. I think investing in another lighting solution would be expensive and not necessary. Control4 lighting works well and since its already installed.

DanITman reacted to macosr in Is C4 getting lapped by open source solutions?
Honestly I believe the C4 should open Composer Pro up to techie home owners for a fee to those who wish to do some things on their own but only through a dealer. There are many software developers out there that want to tinker with their own systems and still work with a dealer. Most people like me end up going down the road of DIY but I appreciate the C4 eco-system and good dealer support (I don’t want to deal with everything on my own) and I would never have the time to do a system as large as mine on my own. I would imagine there are quite a few people like me and it would open up C4 more and cause wider adoption. Composer Pro could always be locked down to a specific system but, honestly, even now, there are always people smart enough to get around whatever blocks get put in place to lock things down. But, at the end of the day, as we all know, C4 is only as good as the “local” dealer / installer.

That will work assuming you are still on OS2. HC-250 won't work on OS3 and will limit your upgrades in the future.

DanITman got a reaction from msgreenf in Sonos doesn't turn off during Room Off
Not the video endpoint. The "Video's Audio End-Point", set that to the matrix. The Video should be the projector.
The reason it doesn't stop playing is because the matrix is still sending audio and sonos will continue to play it as it detects input audio.

The driver knows Home Theatre Input. It uses one of three inputs and he had that set.
