    ILoveC4 got a reaction from Neo1738 in Do I need Control4
Everything can be done with a myriad of apps. Control4 brings it all together.

1 - Control4 can be controlled by the big voice providers (Google, Alexa, etc...)
    2 - ...
3 - not sure why anyone would clutter up shelves and floor space with speakers. Put them in the ceiling - you’ll never want to move them, they’re less expensive, they look and function better.

4 - I love video distribution. You don’t NEED it until you’ve had it.

    You will need an integrator.

ILoveC4 got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in Selling a Control4 home
I recently sold my C4 home. My system consisted of 12 zones of audio, and HC800, an EA5, a surveillance system, a video distribution system, about 120 lighting loads, then various A/V sources and displays.

What I chose to leave was fueled by what I could spare and what would be too hard to remove.

Included in the price, I left all the lighting and the surveillance stuff...which I powered off the HC800 I left behind. I also left a 4 zone amp because I didn’t need it at the new place. I left the buyer choose which 4 rooms I’d hook up to the amp...I left all the in-ceiling speakers in the entire house...to cheap to replace and too much work to remove and patch. I then offered two additional “packages”. One was for the theater and it included the AVR, Projector, theater furniture and an SR250 for that room. The buyer bought that one. The second package included the video distribution and the TV’s. The buyer did NOT buy that one (I didn’t want them to so I priced it high and didn’t push it).
It worked out well for me and I feel as though it helped us sell the home faster and for more money.

ILoveC4 got a reaction from Gary Leeds UK in DS2 Mini - Camera Problem following Driver Update
It’s only 6 months old. I’m actually excited and embarrassed to say that it DID NOT die. I mistakenly failed to reserve its IP address and it had an IP change. When I updated 3.1.3 that seemed to resolve itself and I noticed the new IP while troubleshooting again this morning. We’re back up and running and the IP is reserved.

I’m a big fan of BlueIris. It works with every camera I’ve tried (including the C4 DS2) and has a killer Control4 driver that has support for hidden buttons on the camera view and all sorts of cool stuff!

I’m pretty sure they’re lacking a Zigbee radio and whatever is used to track clicks and what not. It also doesn’t have LED feedback or backlighting. It’s really just a mechanical device. That’s why it’s 1/4 the price of a regular keypad.
I would have used more of these if it weren’t for that fact.

HTC’s!!! That’s a blast from the past. I remember buying a Media Controller in 2006. It had 1.2 on it. That thing was spendy!

I have this fan and LOVE IT. The only integration I’ve done is have it on a C4 switch. If I were to get a Bond I understand I’d be able to adjust speed and what not but we just set that the way we like it and turn it on and off. It’s silent and moves a TON of air.

It’s incredibly hard to manage as light changes throughout the day. I have all of them set with the same custom settings. Min 254 max 255. This way when they’re on they aren’t on all different levels of dim. But sometimes they choose not to turn on, like you see here.

Heres an update as of today.   With the additional functionality implemented its my new favorite integrated media player solution for Control4 for local content.
Grid View Cover art support in Grid View and List View Added Favoriting support (only in grid view) Added ability to programatically select movie through composer programming Changed Red, Green, Yellow and Blue commands to be programmable. Removed Zappiti logo from missing artwork Added 'Auto Room Select' functionality.  This will allow end user to utilise Zappiti app to select media and have the driver automatically turn the room on upon detection of playback. Added 'Room Off After Seconds' functionality.  This will allow end user to  utilise Zappiti app to select media and have the driver automatically turn the room off x seconds after the state changes from playing to stopped. Sneak peak of grid view and favoriting below.

If you have multiple black wires wired together with a pigtail to the switch that is most certainly the power supply. Just remove the wirenut, take out the pigtail, and add your power for the keypad (or dimmer if this is the load side, but in this case it isn't) along with the black wire from the traveler (to get constant power to the dimmer side).

ILoveC4 got a reaction from Anish in OS3 Slow to Connect
"A long time" is obviously relative and up for interpretation. For me it takes a few seconds locally (it depends on how recently I've had the app open) and remotely it usually takes 5-10 seconds...sometimes maybe a little longer? 60 seconds is crazy.

ILoveC4 reacted to alanchow in How to make the most out of home automation during Isolation
These are difficult times for everyone. With integrators and customers in lockdown the home automation industry is slowing to a standstill. So how can we make the most of this time? We at Chowmain we have decided to assist by providing additional resources to the industry which includes
Driver trial extension increases (from 7 days to 90 days) Integrator Employees - Employees can learn about, test and enjoy our drivers in their home during these periods. Consumers - Integrators can reach out to customers to add value to their home automation system by installing trial versions of our drivers remotely into customer homes so they can live with the drivers for 3 months without any commitment. Staff discounts (from 25% to 50% off) We want to make sure that integrators have the opportunity to get to know our drivers so what better way than providing it at a heavily reduced price for use in their own home. Lists of drivers that can be installed remotely without additional hardware. Advanced Announcements - Chowmain’s Advanced Announcements driver expands the announcement agent by providing integration with web based text-to-speech engines.  This gives you futuristic dynamically generated voice notifications over your Control4 system without any additional hardware.  Imagine waking up to your home whilst it tells you the weather orhow many phone calls & doorbell presses have happened since you left. Advanced Custom Buttons - The Advanced Custom Buttons app for Control4 T3 Touchscreens and any HTML5 compatible browser features up to 12 custom buttons.  Each button can be dynamically labelled through the Control4 programming tab and can provide LED feedback for button state. Contact Us - The Contact Us application for Control4 T3 touchscreens provides dealers with a professional looking contact us page on the T3 touchscreen.  You can customise the company logo, company contact details, google map and provide a clickable URL to your company website Event Logging - The simple to use event logging driver stores programmed actions in a file located on the controller.  This can be used to monitor the log access to the home, activities within the home, troubleshoot problematic systems and more.  This data is viewable via an inbuilt web browser or via a network folder location. Experience Button Suite - The Chowmain Experience Buttons Suite adds various programmable pulse/toggle/radio buttons to Control4 for use under the Watch, Listen, Security, Comfort and Services menus.  Find my Remote - This simple driver will add a button to your Control4 touchscreen which when pressed will make your SR-250 or SR-260 remote beep.  Notitication Suite - Chowmain's Notification Suite of drivers offers 3 notification drivers in one package which enhances the way Control4 informs you of events that happen within your home.  Drivers include email SMTP, Push Notifications for Windows 10/iOS/Android/PC/Mac/Linux with camera snapshot uploads.  Use it for doorbell camera photos, alarm system notifications and more. You should! If you end up not liking it, they seem to bring great resale value used. It’s quite a different experience than the other remotes, so I’d encourage you to spend some time with it before coming to judgement. Leverage the remote focused buttons and favorites.

A reboot allowed me to add the driver. All the equipment is getting delivered today, so they should set the equipment today and tomorrow. I’m still a couple of weeks out (at least) from having everything live but the driver looks pretty straightforward. I didn’t plan on having Ethernet out there, but fortunately I have a CAT cable ran there for a camera so I’ll drop that down and put a small PoE switch in.

I can post an update here on the driver once I’ve got things up and running if anyone is interested.
