msgreenf reacted to Andrew luecke in PoE Chime Refusing to play nice
STP Mode, instead of RSTP on Unifi causes lots of issues with C4. It changes the path costs to traditional STP path costs too which seems to mess up the internal routing of C4 devices. If you check Unifi controller, it might show some devices with a 172.X.X.X IP when they go funky.
Turn off STP entirely for the ports of all C4 Controllers, on the Chime, and any snapAV manufactured gear. Not sure if this is an issue with the Chime's, but it definitely affected controllers, C4 lighting and a few other things.
It's actually a Unifi design limitation, because they don't let you override the path costs per port (which is supported by most other enterprise brands). In their defense though, Sonos 2 equipment should have switched to RSTP instead (but haven't checked if it has)

yeh - No. that's wrong.
If you go to the link i have above, go register and you can then create a VM.
I couldn't import my parallels (not available for ARM) but just created a brand new VM from the WIN11 ISO.

We have heard this every year since 2014 when homekit was released... if you can't make a viable product in nearly a decade at the largest company in the world I don't think you care enough to

msgreenf reacted to Darin, PM C4 CX Platform in Anyone running C4 Android app in Windows 11 Subsystem for Android?
@zaphod,
Thanks for mentioning this, I had the Android development team double check things to make sure everything was setup properly to distribute to all markets since Canada is in the currently supported markets. They discovered that Windows 11 support had been unchecked for the last 2 versions due to a change in the app submission flow with all the updates that Amazon has been making to their developer console. They've fixed the issue and resubmitted the app for review, so you can expect it to be available again within 24-48 hours.
For reference of what countries offer support for the Windows Subsystem for Android and the Amazon App Store you can reference the link below.

In my opinion, absolutely a step up.
Voice control (currently Apple TV and Xfinity but assume more will be added over time)
Backlit buttons
More hard buttons
Better wifi chipset
To name a few.

Control4 is aware of “random” problems and is working on improving it by making backend improvements and working with Ecobee

It's not a known issue. Likely specific to your setup and your network

Don't install Orbi imho..
For some devices, most support enquiries are directly related to products like Orbi (to the point I don't consider Orbi supported).
Ubiquiti is a much better product. Araknis and Ubiquiti imho, are two entirely different products, with different advantages / benefits. Make sure all hardwired though

The most substantial change in video distribution from HDBT is IP. Snap(Control4) - Media Over IP is their branded system. I would suggest JAP(Just Add Power) or AVPro IP but either way you are dealing with more traditional network data packets and not extended signal.

This something on site that most experienced techs can sort out through different troubleshooting techniques. Having this problem for 10 years is never acceptable, if it existed from the original installation not only should that dealer be solving the problem for free or little cost. As a dealer, these are the resources clients rely on us to have or whats the point? Do you know how your TVs power is controlled? Tech have been realistically above the old school high voltage issues for a while now, far less issues than the analog and basic digital stuff when you first had the install done.

Thank you. I am really not familiar with intricate settings on my router, but under Internet Setup, IPv4, I chose "Use these DNS servers" and entered 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, and 1.1.1.1, for primary, secondary, and tertiary, respectively. I am not sure if that means I have set them as "static DNS," as you suggested, though I have the "Get Automatically from ISP" turned off, which I assume is the dynamic/non-static mode.

Change your DNS to Google DNS as step 1

msgreenf reacted to cdcllc in Anyone tried ratgdo for Garage Door?
I bit the bullet a long time ago when MyQ integration first failed and implemented a relay, contact sensor and garage door experience button on both doors. Works every time and is available local and remote right from the C4 app. No cloud, no delay, etc. etc. I wish I would have gone with that solution from the beginning when my C4 system was first installed during the house build. I did the design and all hardware and physical connections myself from reading posts on this site. Ari supplied the C4 I/O device; got some help with driver install and programming from Mitch.

That is correct, you can use Honeywell with Control4 still just fine. Search for 4232CBM in the driver database. However the integration is a little bit painful compared to some of the newer systems - I've been using Clare One and it is so much simpler to integrate (over wifi), no physical serial connection needed, no extensive configurations on the security panel, when adding/removing zones they sync up instantly, etc. And everything is easily managed/administered through a web portal or app interface.

They're hardly dumpster fires at all, especially compared to some of the other similar systems out there. It's stable, functional and reliable. They can certainly feel a bit old fashioned compared to your average phone app in how it works (say Bond or even Hue apps).
Pretty? No.
Customer(light user) friendly? Not really.
Does it do what it is intended to do and do it reliably? Yup.

As for camera, there are cameras that take advantage of the histroy agent but that is mainly limited to Snap brands
