RAV got a reaction from LollerAgent in Connecting in-Ceiling Speakers to Control 4
He's got Cat6, so he could use Wireless Keypads (no load) and power them with a low voltage transformer over the cat.
If he wants some form of audio control there rather than just a blank plate.

Not discounting those, but typically moving up past Caseta and you up in the same cost ballpark as Control4 native, or even higher.

RAV got a reaction from BY96 in Understanding the various Lighting Control to find the most cost effective solution
You have to pick the device to fit the load and application.
Switches are always cheapest, essential most cost effective, but they require a neutral at the switch and that's not always the case, and the older the home the less likely.
The essential forward dimmer is cost effective, but not as compatible as the adaptive, if it isn't compatible, then down to a switch or upto the adaptive.
Keypads can reduce 3 ways switching needs, and inclusdes an adaptive, so they are very flexible and can reduce devices.
And then there's looks, vs cost, and function.
Then there's Lutron Caseta, most cost effective of any reliable integratable option.
But you have trade offs in style, and no keypads.
Sure you can mix, again looks to consider.

    A product without a market.
    Who are they targeting?
$3200 speaker package, sound was reviewed as ok, but not amazing, considering the cost. AND it's primarily only Spotify Connect. Oh, and with a WiFi issue.
$1200 remote, or should I say a mini portrait tablet with a handle, that runs apps. That's not a remote. (Seem to recall someone elase made one of those once out of an iPod Touch, but I'm not very savant at the momment)

There is no offical answer yet, appears due to a pushed update.
    Just passing what I've seen.
May also affect EA OSD navigator - that's a call to support.
The advice is to perform a factory reset on the affected T3.

Lets look at it from OP position.
    Two wildly different systems.
And while I didn't review all the numbers, I'll bet they're in line with what is being proposed.
So now what? Which or neither? Something in the middle?
Ultimately, both dealers missed, because it doesn't sound like either one is what the client is ready for.
Did they not ask the right questions, or not listen to the answers, totally missed setting expectations.
I can see the confusion, and the call for help.

Rather than folks here taking a review of a quote position; consult, educate and help a buyer create a list of wants and likes, and an estimated budget.
And not from a sales side, don't try and cut out the local, help them understand, that's a service worth paying for.
Sure, a great dealer will do all that. But they're busy too, and may not see the potential, or pass a project as they're busy.
Then they can talk to a local dealer about what that dealer can supply to fit their needs.
And many on this post did just that, asking questions about their wants, rather than picking at the quotes.

RAV got a reaction from IamFodder in Question about integrating Hikvision & Electric Blinds
What ultimately do you want the system to look like and control?
Right now, it's basically two smart remotes.
If ultimately you want whole home integration, you're going to wish one of the processors was more powerful.
Control4 can do a lot, and the right choice of components can make it easier and more reliable.
Cameras - you can see live feeds using the EA1 on screen gui without physical connections, needs the right third party piece of software for Hikvision.
Want to review and see higher resolution on the TV, then you need connections too.
Shades - most are integratable at some level, again, reflect on the what you want to accomplish.
Lights - many options, depending on how many, and what you want.
Read some more on what Control4 can do, and make yourself a want and wish list.

    Don't over think it.
    Make a bunch of schedule triggers. 7:00, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21
And each triggers the same Puppy macro.

    Nano is POE.
Micro is POE, or WiFi with USB C power plug.
    Core is also POE.
It's so much more than privacy.
The experience of Josh is having a party and your best friend shows, Yo, play some tunes.
The other is when your obnoxious cousin shows up, you try to be polite but they're just so annoying that eventual you only talk to them when you really have to, and you think about how you're going to phrase it so they don't get all huffy and bring down the jam. Did they leave yet?

    Josh is a luxury product.
(they prefer Boutique, but fact is, it's an item that if you try to justify the cost, you'll struggle)
They're building hundreds of micros, not a hundred thousand alexas.
There is also dealer profit, see top statement. They're not giving it away to mine your data.
So you're going to pay quite a bit more than Amazon or Google products.
Is it better than the other options, by a long shot.
    It's also private.
It's also more reliable for integration.
    And flexible.
And software designed for the AV market.
As to micro vs nano. See top statement again. Nano is beautiful and discrete and slick. It needs a hub, because the wall part is so little, and no room for a speaker, so need for appropriate playback. Nano doesn't do anything that micro can't, except be sexy.
Control4 has not, at this point, made any concessions in software to accommodate Josh, frankly it's all on the Josh side currently. Josh built it really well to absorb from Control4, who was already done in a way that it makes a great match.
Josh is foremost not positioning itself to be an addon, they would just as well prefer to be totally standalone home integration. The trouble is, there's a very small sandbox of players to make that happen and they need some outside processing to integrate the rest. And they benefit from a distribution partnership and dealer connections that Control4 can provide. It's a good relationship, but not a marriage, and not sure it should ever be more than really good best friends.
