Yes, but the very fact that there is voice remotes now is forcing them to keep up much more, which i something of a positive

I agree that video distribution is not needed nearly as much, especially if you don't use cable anymore.

Since you are using the contacts you are good.  C4 can no longer access the MyQ API due to the greed of Chamberlain.
Most useful automation - turn on lights when the garage door opens, either in the garage, or in the house as you can have a "Welcome Home" routine that turns the TV on to your favourite channel, and turns on lights, etc.
You can send a warning at 10pm that you left the garage door open - you could even have it close at that time if open.
You could play a notification in the house over all zones when the garage door opens.  If it is your husband coming home your boyfriend could sneak out that back door.

I think the issue is that Roku wants to take a cut of advertising revenue or wants these streaming services to advertise within the Roku ecosystem. I cant remember exactly what it was but I know the issue isnt just that the services want you in their app.

I like the Spotify connect solution because I like to use the Spotify UI to find and start my music.  I FAR prefer the Spotify UI to the Tidal UI within the C4 app.  The thing that is a pain is if you want to join other zones into the music session then you have to start the C4 app and use it to add the other zones so you are needing to use two apps on your phone.  But you can also start Spotify playback from wholly within the C4 world.  For example, I can press a button in my bedroom that starts playback of my Spotify Daily Mix 1 in my Master Bedroom and ensuite.
I use the Spotify app in my car and on my phone on my train ride while commuting to work.  I can start playback in my car and then pick it back up when I get home on my ceiling speakers.  This is particularly convenient for podcasts.
And speaking of podcasts, I don't think Tidal has podcasts.  Not sure about the other "native" C4 music playback options.  That may not matter to you.

I can't speak for Rogers as such - but it's NEVER been an issue to keep the shaw boxes (same hardware as rogers ignite) updated when behind a router - and we've been doing this since Shaw here went to the Xfinity network boxes (so it's been a few years now - can't keep track, but I want to say 4-5 years, I actually got it personally in their initial customer test roll-out and have been doing it since day 1: or is that day -100 😉).
What you find on their support pages and reddit etc is likely people using consumer gear - so I can't speak for their experiences. We use our known gear, as mentioned in this thread, and never had an issue - if we're forced to use anyone else's gear/serup we DO indeed still keep the boxes behind the ISP router/modem and use IR control.
Note that we've only started using the IP driver more recently, so I don't really have enough data about updates breaking IP control, but frankly - I doubt it'll be a huge issue as they really only have their own OS overtop the factory software - and it would only be that factory (xfinity) software that affects IP control - and at least there's some 'comfort' that C4 and comcast/xfinity are in full cooperation there. That's not flawless but....
I CAN tell you I do know a few dealers out there and they've not had issues, including using the Xfinity IP driver (which by default means they're behind their own routers).
I CAN tell you it's not been an issue behind Araknis, Pakedge, and Watchguard in numerous installs, and Mikrotik and Cisco in a few to get service (and firmware updates) to work. Note that the 'few' means that we've just not done many with that setup - but no issues with any of them. At all.
This is no guarantee - and we have decided to not do this in a few cases where in-person support should it fail would be problematic (ie very far away, or places where ability/availability to enter the building/service setups is limited)

Repair job complete.  I put an external power supply inside the case and spliced into the existing wires.

And that volume issue is only applicable if you use the TV as the audio endpoint.  In my house I tend to use other things, like C4 matrix amps. But that requires using the TV's audio output if you are using the TV's internal Roku apps for stuff like Netflix.

I have four Roku TVs in my house and the driver is rock solid.  I used to use a third party driver for my Roku TVs, but then moved to the "free" one from Control4.  My only complaint is that the input switching is a bit slow - they seem to have built in a several second delay for some reason.
I have had the odd network issue but that was my own fault for not creating DHCP reservations.  And the Roku network test seems to not like being behind a PiHole, but those have nothing to do with the driver.

Fwiw - I have one of these sleeves for my Neeo. It's actually very nicely made and fits well. Only issue is the remote doesn't fit into the charging dock with the sleeve on. It's easy to put on and take off, but I'm the only one that remembers to do it so it stays off most of the time. Would be nice if there were some kind of fold up flap on the bottom to make it easy to keep the sleeve on and dock the remote. Really hoping they do that with the Halo sleeve.
On another note, I would really like to see a next gen remote someday with qi charging so I could ditch these silly docks.

I can see the utility in the smart kettle - I can be sitting at my desk in the office and turn on the kettle in the kitchen.  Then get notified when it has boiled.
But don't you keep an ice machine always on?  Or maybe there are places that they only make ice on "as needed" basis.  But the lead time is a bit more than boiling water.

I didn't know Govee made appliances!  Interesting to see that they have a smart ice maker.  I didn't know the world needed a smart ice maker.

What is causing the actual limitation of 70 devices?  Is it the just the processing speed of the controller?  Sounds like other people on here have had up to 95 on a single controller, but got better performance when switching controllers.  When you look at computers there are 4 main resources, CPU, Memory, Network and Disk.  Which one of these resources is the limiting problem?  Or is it like an IP network where you are limited to 254 IP address in a class C network, (assuming subnet and router addresses).  I know alot more about computers than I do control4 stuff.

I have had a Tesla for 8 years and the Tesla Geofencing works with Homelink to open and close my doors automatically.  MyQ via IP makes more sense than Homelink I guess, but the current solutions works very well for me. Are they taking the Homelink functionality away?

I just bought a pass through connector and plugs.  It takes me forever to make a successful plug as I find it hard to keep the wires in the correct order and push them through the plug without them bunching up or switching order.  And you really have to detwist the wires as well.  Anyone have any secrets or are these not as useful as they are made out to be?  How much of each wire do you want when you strip the outer sheath?
Or do I just have crappy push through plugs?

Ah yes, that reminds me, another common one is auto room on drivers for airplay/spotify where one unintentionally starts playing on a phone etc.
