thanks for posting.  I'd just like to see a splash home screen similar to Savant, Josh and Crestron that give you a status of items when you open the mobile app, rather than having to dig to see what devices are in what state. This would be a baseline starting point rather than the focus on the notifications.

Agreed on the home screen!  Seems pretty obvious, right?

Not that it bothers me at all, but I have also noticed there seems to be more.

Example. If I click on something from the All Activity feed it takes me to a full page ad that I have to close before I’m taken to the post.

WisC4 reacted to Control4Savant in Savant vs C4
    Im here
    Quick answers…
Savant does not use ZB or Zwave lighting nativity. They use Wifi for most devices which is much easier to troubleshoot, scale and expand. The best case to swap lighting is to change to Lutron lighting to become supported but agnostic of any larger control system in the future. Another option is to keep your C4 lighting and use a Lutron Hub and shell keypads as a bridge (more on that can be explained later).
Savant touch screens are equally worthless (I dont support proprietary screens) but no real issues with functionality. The app is spot on and uniform. We finally have  room to room intercom between screens which is an advantage C4 has always had (when it works). Savant has reliable and consistent single app doorbell/intercom use with 2N, Ring and Doorbird. The App is user specific, local or cloud based, and runs circles around the Control4 UI.
Savant has X2 wifi touch screen remotes and Button only AA battery remotes with an RF Hub. The work consistently and reliably but dont have the most epic battery life. Siri  and IP integration is and has been reliable.
Savant processors start with a basic Linux unit thats standalone or built into a soundbar or amp. They also have M processor Mac Minis and Mac Pros for medium and larger systems.
As of the past few years I no longer spec new projects with Control4 only keeping up with service and minor updates. All systems needing major updates and all new systems are Savant. They above all else work reliably and consistently on the basic level you expect like a functional single app or 3rd party integration. They provide solutions and tech that Control4 is typically years behind on. They integrate reliably with Sonos, Ring, Nest, Apple and Amazone music etc.  They own GE lighting and Racepoint (Savant) Energy to come up with new and cutting edge power management and storage. As an ultra lux system Control4 cant compare and as a lux container for 3rd party integration its just better.
Savant company end user approach is no different than Snap. Snap corp. has a standard unlike most in the industry and while i’m not crazy about what some of the product lines have become you will likely not likely receive more “care” with a Savant system. They dont care more about what I have to say as a dealer and pro any more than Snap. They are dealer based and as such this is ultimately what causes a positive or negative, well done or over budgeted project for a client. I think it’s fair to say that with Control4 popularity comes the risk of having lesser qualified installer show up at the door. Also, programming in Composer is pretty much plug and play compared to the setup in Savant, making it easier IMO to fake the experience level what you are really capable of. The complexity of Blueprint makes it difficult to fake but also more advanced in capability.
Maybe some more direct questions would be helpful. Iv been a Control4 dealer for 17 years and a Savant dealer for 12 so I can pretty much dissect them however you wish.

I'm partial to Enphase because their Micro-Inverters are probably the most reliable out there and they do a good job with their ESS, Combiner and other products.

I clearly see the advantages of incorporating Energy into Control Systems.    The ability to tie in Load Shedding within user created scenes is powerful.  The future
of EV becoming more common place produces a need for efficient charging or discharging EV batteries (Vehicle to Grid, Vehicle to Home).

I'm like a lot of people ..tired of being under the foot of my local energy co-op for high energy costs in the summer only to be bludgeoned by my natural gas provider
in the winter.  I'm serving two Oligarchs when what I really want is my own Kingdom.

If all you want to automate is the pool heater then your solution will do the job.  In fact, my pool heater was automated in this way for a good few years despite me having Pentair for everything else to do with the pool.
Most pool heaters have their own thermostat and heat setpoints so I’m not even sure if it is worth  including the thermostat.  You can set and forget the heater and then use the fireman’s switch control as an on/off override.
The beauty (strength / purpose) of Pentair is that you can control and monitor everything to do with your pool and spa (pumps, heaters, lights, water features, bubbler, temperatures etc.).

    Hi All,
I'm looking to control my pool heater through Control4 and I've got a couple of options that I wanted to spitball and get opinions on:

High end - Get the Pentair Intellicenter installed and control the heater through the Pentair driver integration in C4. This is going to be roughly 3k for parts plus installation. Thermostat - Get a C4 thermostat; use the remote temperature sensor terminals to connect to temperature probe in the plumbing, and use the C and R terminals to close the fireman switch on the heater. In C4 apps, it looks and functions like a thermostat turning on a single stage heater based on the temperature set point I give it. I would power this via batteries. Is there I can power this from an outlet? Z2IO - Use an existing Z210; connect the Thermistor pins to temperature probe in plumbing, and use a single throw relay to close the fireman switch on the heather. Can I use a thermostat driver in C4 or do I need some other driver? This would be plugged into an outlet.
According to the heater's manual, I can remotely turn on the heater with the fireman switch: Connect wires between the Fireman’s Switch terminals on the heater and the relay. Connect wires from the controller or timer to the Fireman’s Switch. Controller, timer or relay should be sized to handle 24VAC at 0.5 Amp (because it will be completing the 24VAC control board circuit on the heater as shown in Figure 28). DO NOT apply line voltage to the Fireman’s Switch terminals.
So, based on that, both the thermostat and z2io should be able to close the fireman switch on the heater to turn on it.

I'm thinking the thermostat might be best solution that doesn't involve a ton of cash for this simple automation, but would love thoughts on anything I'm not considering here.

    Thanks!

Unless you plan to shut down breakers when on solar only no real benefit to integration w C4 I can think of. I have enphase and love the system. Did have a few hiccups getting it running right and a period of 2 weeks one of their sw updates dropped my whole system from production however since then no issues. The microinverters being able to run the house off solar only are great, we also have a 10kw battery for our accessory panel (other 2 on generator). Nice setup.

Any possibility of a future 2 way integration so that C4 could know and display what's on TV? That would be cool

None of my Halo orders have shipped out as yet. But I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will ship by the end of the day.

The good news is that, even after all the orders are already in, Control4 seems to still have Halo stock available!

very likely - a big conference - https://cediaexpo.com/ - is coming up next week.  And most companies, like C4, announce new software updates, new hardware, etc.  So very likely, but no guarantee, some form of new remote is announced.

Development is still underway. Definitely not dead. We've been in a private beta for about 6 weeks and have had folks testing, providing feedback, and/or meeting with us on a screen share.
    Hoping to share more soon.

So back to the topic of this thread, any rumors of new remotes coming out?  I still struggle to use the NEEO in my 100% light controlled theater. Would be great to get a new touchscreen with additional backlit buttons.

I hope it doesn’t stay unique for long and C4 adds in - I really think there’s a huge market for this in the near future. Maybe not quite there yet but in a year or two likely. Grid power just getting too unpredictable and unreliable for demographic primarily served by pro integrators.

Maybe the feeling, which was expressed in a different thread, that the Neeo is pretty but not functional, and the SR-260 is functional, but looks like it is from the 1990s.
